Job Summary

The Salem Hospital Pre-Procedural Evaluation Clinic is located at 81 Highland Avenue, Salem, MA 01970, and provides comprehensive preoperative assessments for patients undergoing a wide range of surgical and procedural interventions. The team partners closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, primary care providers, and specialists to optimize patients for surgery through detailed medical evaluations, risk stratification, medication management, and coordination of necessary testing. The clinic plays a critical role in improving surgical outcomes, enhancing patient safety, and ensuring a seamless perioperative experience. As part of Salem Hospital, a member of Mass General Brigham, the practice is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care while supporting efficient surgical scheduling and exceptional clinical outcomes.

We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our Pre-Procedural Evaluation team in a 36-hour, full-time position. This is a day shift opportunity with a schedule of Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and no weekends, holidays, or on-call responsibilities. To support work-life balance, the schedule offers flexibility, allowing the selected candidate to work either two 10-hour shifts and two 8-hour shifts or four 9-hour shifts each week. There is also opportunity for this NP to work up to 50% of their week remotely.



Summary

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a licensed provider. The NP is responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, medical and/or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation. May also perform additional duties, such as precepting a small group of learners.

Essential Functions
-Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural setting.
-Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
-Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
-Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
-Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
-Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summaries.
-Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.
