The Specialty of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Neonatology plays a critical role in teaching and training medical students in women's health, reproductive health, pregnancy, childbirth, and neonatal care across a range of clinical settings.

The Faculty of Medicine and Health is seeking to appoint an outstanding Lecturer (Education Focused) (Level B) to join the Specialty of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Neonatology within the Northern Clinical School.

This part-time continuing position offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced clinician and educator to contribute to the delivery of high-quality medical education within the Perinatal and Women's Health specialty block. The successful candidate will play a key role in curriculum development, student teaching, assessment, mentoring, and educational innovation while supporting excellence in learning and teaching across the discipline.

Working collaboratively with academic and clinical colleagues, you will contribute to the development of future medical professionals through evidence-based, student-centred teaching within a clinical environment.
This position will be primarily based at the Northern Clinical School, Royal North Shore Hospital Campus.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Collaborate with School leadership to develop and deliver outstanding teaching and learning outcomes

  • coordinate and manage student teaching within a hospital environment and clinical school setting

  • design, implement, moderate, and evaluate student assessments, including marking and feedback activities

  • contribute to the design, development, review, and continuous improvement of the Perinatal and Women's Health specialty block curriculum and learning materials

  • provide academic guidance, mentoring, and pastoral support to students

  • contribute to teaching and learning innovation, evaluation, and quality improvement initiatives

  • support curriculum renewal and quality assurance activities across the School and Faculty

  • foster an inclusive, supportive, and engaging learning environment that promotes student success.

About you

  • MBBS (or equivalent medical degree)

  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG)

  • experience designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating curriculum, assessment, and innovative teaching practices in higher education

  • demonstrated ability to coordinate and manage student teaching within a hospital or clinical school environment

  • experience contributing to curriculum renewal, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives

  • a commitment to excellence in student learning, engagement, and educational outcomes

  • strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills

  • the ability to work collaboratively with academic, clinical, and professional colleagues

  • commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive, and student-centred learning environment.
