Position Summary
Mountains Community Hospital is seeking a highly analytical and technically skilled Business Analyst to support data-driven decision-making across the organization.
The Business Analyst designs, develops, and maintains business intelligence solutions, reports, dashboards, and analytics that support clinical, operational, financial, quality, and strategic initiatives. This position works closely with clinical departments, executive leadership, Finance, Quality, Human Resources, and Information Technology to transform complex data into meaningful information that improves patient care, operational efficiency, and organizational performance.
The ideal candidate has strong SQL development skills, experience working with healthcare data and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, and the ability to communicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain SQL queries, reports, dashboards, scorecards, and data visualizations.
- Analyze clinical, operational, financial, quality, and other organizational data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Partner with departments and leadership to understand business needs and translate requirements into effective reporting and analytics solutions.

- Develop automated reports and interactive dashboards using Business Intelligence tools.
- Create ad hoc reports and data analyses to support organizational initiatives and decision-making.
- Validate data and report accuracy through testing, reconciliation, and quality assurance processes.
- Optimize SQL queries and reporting processes for performance and scalability.
- Maintain documentation for report specifications, data definitions, workflows, and development standards.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, organizational policies, and data governance requirements.
- Present analytical findings and recommendations to leadership and department managers.
- Assist with regulatory reporting, including CMS, Joint Commission, and other healthcare reporting requirements.
- Participate in data warehouse, data integration, and Business Intelligence projects.
- Support system implementations, upgrades, testing, and other technology initiatives related to reporting and analytics.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual reporting processes and improve data accessibility.
- Stay current with Business Intelligence technologies, healthcare analytics, and reporting best practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Informatics, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of three years of experience developing reports and analytics using Microsoft SQL Server.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and relational database concepts.
- Demonstrated experience with:
- Complex SQL queries
- Stored procedures
- Views
- Common Table Expressions (CTEs)
- Window functions
- Database joins
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
- Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in an acute-care hospital or healthcare environment.
- Experience with EHR systems such as MEDITECH Expanse, Epic, Cerner, CPSI, or Medhost.
- Experience with Microsoft Power BI, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Microsoft Fabric, or Azure data services.
- Knowledge of healthcare quality measures, regulatory reporting, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with healthcare data standards and terminology, including HL7, FHIR, ICD-10, CPT, SNOMED CT, and LOINC.
- Experience with ETL processes and data warehouse development.
- Experience developing executive dashboards, quality metrics, financial reports, operational analytics, or regulatory reports.
