Description
The Analyst will hold a critical role within the Structured Credit and Real Estate Underwriting (RESCU) team, supporting the management of a multi-billion-dollar portfolio of real estate assets primarily in the affordable housing space (Citi Community Capital) across North America. The Analyst will gain broad exposure across the full credit lifecycle, covering Construction Financing, Guarantor Analysis, and Permanent Financing.
Analyst Role and Responsibilities:
- Work proactively with the Underwriting team/ Asset Manager to ensure timely information flow/ communications among all internal stakeholders.
- Review property-level financials (operating statements, rent rolls, NOI) and borrower/guarantor financial statements including REO exposure, to identify deteriorating trends and support portfolio reviews.
- Monitor the ongoing compliance of assigned deals with the documented financing terms and conditions, portfolio performance and financial triggers with the aim of identifying and mitigating credit risks. Assist with classification and risk rating processes, decisions and monitoring.
- Monitor projects under development, including oversight of construction progress, budget tracking, draw reviews, execution risks, risk ratings, and annual reviews through completion and stabilization.
- Prepare annual credit approval and quarterly memos in a timely manner.
- Assist with stress testing, concentration analysis, audits, risk ratings, and credit policy initiatives
- Maintain audit-ready credit files in line with WCR policies.
Qualification and Experience:
- 1 to 3 years of credit, portfolio management or structuring experience in a financial institution, rating agency, financial guarantor, or asset management firm
- Strong Microsoft Office skills. Modelling experience is a plus
