Description

The LTL Carrier Analyst plays a key role in managing carrier relationships, analyzing transportation spend, supporting procurement and pricing initiatives across Bison's LTL network. Working closely with the Supervisor, the LTL Carrier Analyst supports carrier procurement, financial analysis, invoicing processes, and rate management. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and confident building relationships, resolving issues, and working with both internal stakeholders and external carrier partners to drive results.

Specific Responsibilities include:

  • Analyze carrier spend, rates, and performance data to identify cost-saving opportunities and support strategic decision-making.
  • Support carrier procurement initiatives, including spot quotes, rate benchmarking, carrier evaluations, and full-cycle RFP processes.
  • Review and approve carrier invoices, investigate billing discrepancies and rate variances, and work with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues.
  • Act as a key liaison for carrier payment and invoicing processes, providing support and guidance to cross-functional teams, including Accounts Payable.
  • Maintain accurate carrier rates, tariffs, fuel programs, surcharges, and accessorial information within company systems.
  • Develop reports and insights using analytical tools, including Excel and Power BI, to support leadership and business planning.
  • Participate in audits, special projects, and continuous improvement initiatives related to carrier management and LTL operations.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with carrier partners and internal stakeholders to support operational and financial objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Our Ideal Candidate will possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Supply Chain, Logistics, Economics, Finance, or a related field. Other formal education will be considered for relevance. 
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, procurement, finance or a related analytical role.
  • Experience supporting procurement activities or working with RFIs, RFPs, or RFQs would be considered an asset.  
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify trends, investigate discrepancies, and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence and professionalism to collaborate effectively across internal departments and represent the team in discussions with external partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to build and maintain working relationships with carrier partners.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and integrity.
