Description
Within the Technology team of Product Engineering, as a Welding Engineer you will support nuclear business projects with specialist welding and materials knowledge across the whole range of products and services. You will be part of a team and provide specialist support, in a context of increased complexity of projects and fast changes while maintaining conformity to design intent, codes, standards and quality .
Products include steam turbines, heat exchangers, generators and pumps.
The role covers new build and service activities.
The role consists in:
- Support material selection appropriate to equipment design and function.
- Support the maintenance and development of specifications for welding within the context of any applied codes and standards, e.g. Pressure Equipment Directive.
- Support the review of supplier derogation requests and non-conformance reports related to welding and heat treatment.
- Support internal manufacturing activities.
- Promote the department’s expertise and uphold company values and ethics.
- Ensure compliance with company-specific EHS rules and instructions.
Responsibilities:
- Provide support to Products and Services related to welding activities, and design related to welding.
- Support review of technical reports.
- Support the technical assessment of non-conformance reports and supplier derogation requests.
- Participate in cost reduction activities related to material streamlining and harmonization of legacy specifications.
- Develop and introduce new manufacturing technologies.
- Maintain positive interfaces with other technical disciplines.
- Maintain positive interfaces with projects in Products and Services.
- Maintain a positive technical interface with the manufacturing network in Arabelle Solutions and external suppliers in charge of the components manufacturing.
- Provide feedback experience to the group (feedback meetings with suppliers and internal, feedback reports)
- Provide coaching and mentoring of developing Engineers.
- Support supplier improvement and supply chain development.
- Contribute to the continuous processes improvement
Candidate Profile
Education and Experience:
- International Welding Engineer (IWE) certificate
- MSc Welding Engineering
- Trained in Nuclear Safety Culture - preferable
- Trained in ITNS-I/ITNS-A management and NS tagging (Important To Nuclear Safety – Item / Activity) - preferable
- Experience of electric welding processes including FCAW and orbital TIG welding.
- Experience of coaching and mentoring developing Engineers.
- Conversant with NDT methods and techniques.
