What You'll Do
As a Software Engineer in the Cisco Crosswork Hierarchical Controller (HCO) Application Team, you will develop and maintain full-stack applications that support multidomain network visibility, analytics, assurance, and service provisioning. You will collaborate with other engineers and cross-functional partners to translate service-provider requirements into secure, scalable, and reliable software.
Collaborate with Product Management, Design/UX, and other engineers to simplify complex workflows for network operators. Contribute to requirements grooming, technical specifications, and software design across microservices, applications, and shared frameworks.
Design, implement, test, and maintain APIs and workflows for service creation, modification, assurance, and lifecycle management across IP and optical networks. Apply strong validation, predictable error handling, backward-compatible interfaces, and reliable integration with domain controllers and orchestration systems.
Analyze and improve application scalability and performance, including concurrency, query execution, batching, streaming, memory utilization, network efficiency, and user-interface rendering.
Apply security, privacy, and resilience practices throughout the software development lifecycle. Participate in threat modeling, vulnerability remediation, dependency management, and the resolution of security findings.
Use AI-assisted engineering practices and contribute to agentic workflows and AI-enabled product capabilities. Participate in code reviews, strengthen automated testing and quality metrics, and help improve CI/CD and release practices across the application suite.
Who You'll Work With
You will join a distributed application engineering team working across Israel and Slovakia. The team builds the web experiences, APIs, shared frameworks, and automation workflows for Cisco Crosswork Hierarchical Controller, a multidomain, multivendor software controller that enables service providers to understand, troubleshoot, automate, and control complex IP and optical transport networks. You will work closely with Product Management, Design/UX, system and network architects, platform and DevOps engineers, quality engineering, technical support, and customer-facing teams.

You are a collaborative software engineer with full-stack development experience and an interest in one or more of the following areas: application platforms and scalability, modern user experiences and visualization, or network service provisioning and automation. You apply sound software design and API development practices, care about software quality and customer experience, and are comfortable working across implementation, testing, performance analysis, and production debugging. You communicate clearly, take ownership of your work, and actively contribute to team learning and continuous improvement.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, with 3+ years of relevant software engineering experience; or equivalent practical experience.
Hands-on software development experience with Python for backend services and TypeScript and React for modern web applications.
Experience delivering software features through the development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, code review, deployment, and maintenance.
Experience developing distributed or microservices-based software, including API validation, error handling, scalability, compatibility, security, and lifecycle considerations.
Hands-on experience with containerized software and cloud-native runtime environments such as Docker and Kubernetes.
Strong engineering fundamentals in secure coding, unit and integration testing, debugging, performance analysis, source control, code review, and CI/CD practices.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience using AI-assisted software development tools such as Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or equivalent platforms for planning, implementation, testing, code review, troubleshooting, or documentation.
Experience contributing to agentic workflows or AI-enabled capabilities, from prototype development through testing and production integration.
Experience in service-provider networking and protocols or technologies such as IP, MPLS, SR-TE, SRv6, IS-IS, BGP, Ethernet services, or optical transport networks.
Experience with network management and orchestration platforms and interfaces, SDN controllers, or comparable automation systems.
Experience contributing to shared application frameworks, reusable frontend component libraries, dashboard and widget architectures, or WebGL/3D topology and service visualizations.
Experience with CI/CD, including automated quality gates, dependency and CVE remediation, secret scanning, and container-image security
