Deli Associate

McKinnon's Market & Super Butcher Shop is looking for a friendly, dependable Deli Associate to join our team. The ideal candidate enjoys working with customers, takes pride in keeping a clean and organized department, and works well as part of a team.

Deli experience is helpful but not required-we're happy to train the right candidate. Pay is commensurate with experience and overall fit.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly and provide prompt, friendly service with a smile
• Assist customers with deli selections and answer product questions
• Slice, weigh, package, label and price deli products accurately
• Stock, organize and rotate merchandise to maintain freshness and quality
• Keep displays attractive, full and properly arranged
• Maintain back stock in a clean and orderly manner
• Safely operate knives, slicers and other deli equipment
• Follow all food-safety, sanitation and workplace-safety procedures
• Keep the department and surrounding work areas clean, well maintained and organized
• Help create a safe, clean and welcoming shopping environment
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Friendly, positive and customer-focused attitude
• Basic knowledge of deli products is preferred, but not required
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with customers and coworkers
• Ability to safely use knives, slicers and other cutting equipment after training
• Dependable, attentive and able to work well as part of a team
• Ability to follow instructions and maintain high standards for cleanliness and food safety
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position

Physical and Working Requirements

• Stand and walk for extended periods, including shifts of up to 8–10 hours
• Frequently bend, reach, stoop and climb
• Lift and move heavy products and supplies without assistance
• Perform repetitive hand and arm movements with good manual dexterity
• Work in areas with varying temperatures, including refrigerated coolers
• Safely use box cutters, knives and other department equipment
