Description
- Leads and directs the work performance of one of the custodial crews responsible for cleaning and first level maintenance of at least one of the County’s facilities.
- Participates in or organizes quick reaction teams needed for special projects at the community centers and other facilities; requests materials, supplies and services required for the cleaning and maintenance of the facility(s).
- Cleans, sweeps, mops, and buffs floors; vacuums and shampoos carpets; dusts furniture and disinfects surfaces; empties trash receptacles; moves furniture; replaces light bulb sand batteries; cleans windows, window sills, and mirrors; washes walls; cleans, sanitizes, and stocks restrooms; sweeps halls and outside walks; prunes trees and shrubs; mows and waters lawns and shrubs; rakes and blows leaves and cuts weeds; shovels snow from sidewalks and walkway sand applies salt to prevents accidents and falls; gathers recyclables and picks up trash from grounds.
- Performs single repairs to assigned equipment; inspects, observes and reports conditions affecting the safety, security, and/or economical operation of facilities, fixtures, and furnishings; opens and locks facility and secures parking lots as needed; and raises and takes down flag.
- Responds to questions from the public in a courteous manner; completes work orders in a timely, safe and efficient manner.
- Performs other duties as directed or assigned.
Knowledge/Skills:
- Working knowledge of commercial cleaning practices and procedures, building and office security, cleaning solvents, paint and other hazardous materials and their safe handling; in the safe use of power cleaning tools and equipment; of safety regulations; of County policies and procedures; and of light and heavy duty equipment.
- Ability to organize, communicate and execute work assignments; to operate powered cleaning and polishing equipment; to use hand tools; to communicate both verbally and in writing; and to establish effective working relationships with associates and the public.
Working Conditions:
Work may be performed in an office setting and outdoors in varied weather conditionswith exposure to dust, fumes, airborne particles,infectious disease, chemicals,allergens, and extreme heat or cold. Work involveshigh riskand potentially dangerous situations working near hazardous/moving materials,equipmentand machinery; exposure to excessive noise; and working with hostile and/or offensive individuals. The use of protective clothing, equipment,devicesand materials is required. Work requires the ability to stand, walk, reach with hands or arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk, hear, and smell; clarity of vision at short and long distance; and the ability to lift up to 50lbs. Work schedule may include evening and weekend hours.
Conditions of Employment:
Selected candidate mustsubmitto and pass a County paid pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol screening. Additionally, selected candidate mustsubmitto and pass a county paid criminal background screening. Selected candidate mustpossessand maintain a valid New Mexico Class D Driver’s License as incumbent shall be appointed to drive a County vehicle during the performance of his/her duties.
