Join us and play your part in making life’s moments mean a little more.
About the Function:
Supply Chain & Manufacturing is where our brands are made, moved and delivered to the world.
With over half of our people working across more than 100 sites, this is a complex, large-scale operation that brings together production, logistics, engineering and supplier partnerships.
It’s fast-paced and hands-on, with teams working together to ensure quality, efficiency and sustainability at every stage. From sourcing ingredients to getting products into customers’ hands, you’ll play a role in delivering the brands people know and love.
About the Role:
The Utilities & Hard Services Engineer is responsible for the safe, reliable, compliant, and cost-effective operation of utilities and hard services across Diageo Australia's Huntingwood manufacturing site, while providing technical support to the Sydney HQ office.
This role owns the performance, reliability, compliance, risk management, and long-term asset strategy for utilities infrastructure. Working closely with site operations, engineering, facilities, asset care, automation, and external partners, the role delivers sustainable utility operations, infrastructure lifecycle planning, capital projects, and continuous improvement initiatives that support site performance and Diageo's sustainability ambitions.
The position also provides technical leadership across contractors and suppliers, ensuring critical utility assets remain compliant, fit for purpose, and aligned with Diageo standards.
Role Responsibilities:
- Own the safe, reliable, compliant, and cost-effective operation of utilities and hard services across the Huntingwood manufacturing site and the defined Sydney HQ scope.
- Develop and execute the long-term utilities and infrastructure strategy, including asset lifecycle planning, reliability improvement, risk management, compliance, sustainability initiatives, and capital investment prioritisation.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory, environmental, and Diageo standards, including hazardous areas, fire protection systems, ammonia refrigeration, pressure equipment, electrical safety, and trade waste requirements.
- Lead utility performance monitoring, forecasting, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives, using data and asset health insights to drive operational efficiency and informed decision-making.
- Deliver utilities and hard-services capital projects from concept through commissioning and handover, ensuring projects meet safety, quality, budget, and schedule requirements.
- Drive energy, water, and sustainability improvement programs that support Diageo's operational excellence and decarbonisation objectives.
- Provide technical leadership and governance across utilities systems, contractors, suppliers, and specialist service providers, ensuring effective performance, risk management, and compliance.
- Partner closely with Operations, Asset Care, Facilities, OT & Automation, and external stakeholders to resolve technical issues, support business continuity, and implement long-term infrastructure improvements.
- Lead utilities-related investigations, emergency response planning, and out-of-hours support for critical utility incidents, while building site capability through knowledge sharing, documentation, and contingency planning.
Experience / Skills Required:
- 5+ years’ experience in utilities, hard services or industrial infrastructure, preferably in beverage or FMCG manufacturing.
- Strong experience with refrigeration, boilers and steam, pressure equipment, compressed air, water, fire and HVAC systems.
- Proven contractor and supplier management, including scope, performance and compliance oversight.
- Experience managing regulatory compliance, asset risk, inspections and corrective actions.
- Knowledge of trade waste systems, BOD management and environmental compliance.
- Strong analytical skills with utilities, cost and production data, translating insights into actions and business cases.
- Experience in 24/7 manufacturing environments preferred.
- SAP, Power BI, advanced Excel, and capital project delivery experience desirable.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, prioritisation and emergency response skills.
