The European Tax Manager will be a contributing member of a tax department that is organized to provide research, expertise, recommendations, and resolutions in complex areas such as compliance, consulting, and planning. The position will report directly to the Tax Director in London and have an opportunity to engage in a growing, collaborative, and encouraging work environment; as well as demonstrate personal strengths as a tax professional.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities, other duties may be assigned:
Support tax compliance and reporting for a growing portfolio of entities and assets across Northern, Central and Southern Europe (UK, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Ireland, Germany & Finland with further expansion expected), including corporate income tax, VAT, property taxes and other necessary tax filings.
Review tax returns and filings prepared by external advisors, ensuring accuracy and consistency with QTS positions.
Conduct tax research, assess regulatory compliance, and manage projects as they are assigned
Ability to meet monthly, quarterly and annual goals, targets, and deadlines
Demonstrate attention to detail and a capacity to manage shifting priorities
Ability to prioritize and oversee multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Deliver effective communication with third parties on the Company’s behalf; and manage audit and discovery processes with tax authorities
Develop and implement process improvements in the Company’s tax procedures utilizing tax technology tools to simplify and automate complex processes
Work closely with staff and managers of both the Tax and other key departments within the Company
Must be comfortable dealing with issues and topics outside of their traditional tax training and running projects fully from start to finish
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in related field
Five or more years of relevant work experience
Proficient in and/or working knowledge of Excel, RIA, Sage FAS, Alteryx, and tax research platforms
Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, audit principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal control systems
Familiarity with state & local tax reporting requirements
Experience with ASC 740
Understanding of state and local reporting requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA
