Job Description:
Digital Security & Core (DS&C) protects bp from cyber threats, makes us more digitally resilient, delivers the core platforms, data foundations and services bp runs on every day and the partners with Finance, Legal, Procurement, and P&C to deliver their digital agenda. As the SVP’s Business Advisor, you are the integrator who turns that agenda into momentum – the SVP’s trusted thinking partner and a force multiplier for the DS&C leadership team, connecting strategy to execution across the organization.
This is a strategic, cross-cutting role – distinct from an executive assistant and from a functional lead. You will work side-by-side with the SVP, run the leadership rhythm, and drive our biggest shifts: disciplined cost and simplification, operational resilience, and the move to an AI- and agentic-first way of working.
What you’ll own
- Thinking partner – help set priorities, sharpen decisions, and produce executive- and board-ready narratives on behalf of the SVP.
- Operating rhythm – run the leadership team cadence, priorities tracking and performance/EPR reviews; convene the right people around the right priorities at the right time and keep actions moving.
- Connector – join up our DS&C teams, collaborate tightly with Digital Delivery and the wider Technology Business Advisor network.
- Special projects – drive the SVP’s highest-priority initiatives, with a bias to cost discipline, simplification, and AI/agentic adoption.
- Communications – draft and quality-assure SVP communications, from team briefs and leadership announcements to transformation messaging to board and bpLT briefings.
Who we’re looking for
You think five steps ahead and walk through walls where appropriate. You communicate crisply to executives and engineers alike and hold a high sense of ownership with a genuine one-team spirit. You are:
- Highly organized, reliable, and able to prioritize and adjust to demand.
- A self-starter and autonomous operator who identifies the biggest opportunities independently.
- A strong written and verbal communicator, able to flex style across executive and technical audiences.
- Highly resilient, curious, and truth-seeking, with a continuous learning and improvement mindset – actively seeking and giving feedback.
- A strong relationship builder with excellent stakeholder management.
Advanced digital experience is welcome, but not essential.
