Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Operations Managers Comms Manager the Scheduler is responsible for permanently staffing and filling all open shifts on the schedule. Will be liaison for any day to day openings or changes to the schedule between operations and the employees. Schedule any time off requests. All timekeeping requirements will be daily monitored including all forms needed to clock in or out. Tracking any overtime used during a shift and reporting findings. Maintain and help regulate tardies and absences.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assign new employees to a permanent schedule for the company and maintain a master schedule for the company
  • Work with current employees with any scheduling needs.
  • Understand the different Levels of Service and their staffing requirements
    • Understand LEMSA's Requirements for different levels of service.
    • Making sure Employees have updated and current licenses and certifications to work the assigned shift
  • Assigning vehicles and understanding resource levels for staffing.
  • Working with SCT coordinator in scheduling SCT staff
  • Keep a current schedule with a month in advance view of a live schedule including all Time off requests, temporary changes, Leaves of Absences, and any other reason an employee may need to have a deviation from their regular schedule.
  • Monitor and help enforce all attendance policies including unexcused: Tardies, No Call No Shows, Abscences, early leaves and shift abandons etc.
  • Monitor all issues with timecard keeping and clocking in/out policies including.
    • Clocking in and out correctly for shifts
    • Not working while not clocked in
    • C7 compliance forms
    • Unit checkouts forms
    • Readiness for work prior to clocking in.
  • Report any findings for timecard and timekeeping compliance.
  • Reviewing employees hours from previous day and give an Overtime and C7 Report to management
  • Watch for OT trends
  • Help prepare and review biweekly timecard reports for HR and Payroll
  • Help with any office details that may need to be attended to.
  • Understand the Traumasoft timecard and clock in and out procedure.
  • Understanding company policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining First Rescue office Standards
  • Any other job function or errand needed by Management.

Minimun Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Must possess or have possessed a valid California EMT certification or Paramedic license
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must maintain a flexible schedule
  • Must demonstrate successful clearance in a criminal background check
  • Must successfully pass drug and alcohol screening
  • Must have at least one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination and experience

High school diploma or GED. Five years of experience as an Emergency Medical Paramedic. Field Training experience Helpful. California Driver's License and acceptable driving record required. Must have the ability to interact with hospital and other agency representatives in developing service. Effective oral and written communication skills. Effective interpersonal skills. Ability to work all shifts and varied shifts.
