Relocation Requirement: This position requires relocation from Rochester to Amsterdam, NY. 


Summary:

Under the supervision of the Chief Operating Officer, the Sr. Director will oversee the daily operations of selected Ibero-American Action League Inc. programs located within the Mohawk Valley and Capital Region. The Sr. Director is responsible for providing leadership in creating, implementing, strengthening, and sustaining programs in partnership with the Chief Operating Officer and President & CEO. This position supports program strategy, operational direction, community collaboration, accountability for outcomes, and advancement of Ibero’s regional priorities.

  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with administrative oversight agencies, funders, government entities, community partners, and provider organizations to support funding, service coordination, and responsiveness to community needs.
  • In coordination with the Chief Operating Officer, support program development, strategic planning, service delivery, and management across the Mohawk Valley and Capital Region.
  • Provide leadership, supervision, coaching, and performance support to assigned program leaders and staff, promoting accountability, professional development, collaboration, and effective program management.
  • Oversee designated programs, contracts, and related services to ensure quality service delivery, compliance, integration across program areas, and alignment with funder, partner, client, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Serve as a key liaison between regional programs, Rochester-based programs, administrative departments, and executive leadership to support communication, coordination, and implementation of organizational priorities.
  • Facilitate cross-program, cross-departmental, and regional collaboration to strengthen referrals, resources, partnerships, service integration, and strategic initiatives.
  • Monitor program goals, outcomes, contract requirements, performance indicators, budgets, expenditures, and financial reports; use program, financial, and community data to identify trends, strengthen services, and inform leadership decisions.
  • Partner with Controller, Grant Accountants and the finance team to support budget preparation, fiscal accountability, financial insight, and sustainability planning.
  • Remain current on program requirements, lead required changes, and ensure programs maintain compliance with applicable regulations, contracts, and agency standards.
  • Identify and support new program opportunities, strategic initiatives, and grant funding aligned with Ibero’s mission, community needs, and regional priorities.
  • Submit monthly program status reports to the Chief Operating Officer.
  • Provide biweekly supervision and complete annual performance evaluations for assigned program staff and other direct reports.
  • Partner with Human Resources to recruit, interview, and recommend candidates for hire.
  • Represent Ibero in meetings, coalitions, public forums, government discussions, provider networks, and community-related activities throughout the Mohawk Valley and Capital Region.
  • Work collaboratively with Ibero staff, local programs, government agencies, human service providers, law enforcement, and community partners to advance the organization’s vision, mission, values, and regional priorities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or President & CEO.

Authority:

This position holds a high degree of independence within the framework of the agency’s policies and procedures. The individual must be resourceful and able to display initiative and understanding of management systems and interpersonal relations. Must keep immediate supervisor abreast of issues and concerns which merit intervention from higher-level management staff.

Skills and Abilities:

  • A bachelor’s degree with at least ten years’ experience working in the not-for profit industry or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience supervising others and leading at the department level or large scale projects.
  • Valid driver’s license, ability to provide own transportation and travel to various locations.
  • Experience working with community human services providers.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Must be able to perform all functions with minimal supervision.
  • Familiar with grant funding requirements.
  • A combination of training and experience other than the specified, if judged to be adequate for the job, may considered.

Physical Demands:


The position does require occasional standing, squatting, lifting of up to approximately 10 lbs. And frequent sitting.
