The Marketing Services (MS) Technology team is looking for a Lead Software Development Engineer (Technical Lead) to provide technical ownership, with an emphasis on engineering efficiency, on-time delivery, innovation, and an outstanding experience for our customers.
The ideal candidate is passionate about architecting and building highly available, large-scale platforms using modern engineering practices. You will work across technologies including Java, Spring Boot, React, GraphQL, Databricks, AWS, Spark, Hadoop, real-time data processing frameworks, and cloud-native architectures. Our teams leverage GenAI and Agentic AI capabilities throughout the product development lifecycle to accelerate delivery, improve quality, strengthen automation, and drive engineering effectiveness. This role provides an opportunity to lead innovative solutions while helping drive Mastercard's cloud transformation journey and the future of intelligent marketing platforms.
Role:
• Provide technical leadership for the design and development of new platform capabilities.
• Build and support distributed applications, REST APIs, and web services using Java, Spring Boot, and cloud-native technologies.
• Lead cross-functional teams of full stack, frontend, and data engineers.
• Design highly available, fault-tolerant, and scalable platforms that support global marketing solutions.
• Partner with product, architecture, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Drive platform modernization initiatives leveraging AWS, Databricks, and modern data architectures.
• Champion software quality, automation, observability, reliability, performance, and operational excellence.
• Promote adoption of GenAI, Agentic AI, and modern engineering practices across the development lifecycle.
• Support monitoring, troubleshooting, optimization, and continuous improvement of production platforms.
All About You:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Experience with modern web technologies including React, Angular, Node.js, GraphQL, or similar frameworks.
• Experience with Databricks, Spark, Hadoop, Python, Scala, and cloud-based analytics platforms.
• Experience building real-time or near real-time data processing solutions.
• Strong understanding of Domain Driven Design (DDD) and Event Driven Architecture (EDA).
• Experience with automated testing frameworks including JUnit, Mockito, and BDD methodologies.
• Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins, automated deployments, and DevOps practices.
• Experience architecting and delivering cloud-native solutions on AWS.
• Proven track record building highly available, scalable, resilient, and high-performance platforms.
• Experience implementing monitoring, logging, alerting, observability, and reliability engineering practices.
• Experience using GenAI and AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity and software quality.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly and drive innovation.
• Passion for cloud transformation, platform modernization, and emerging technologies.
