The opportunity
Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a student employee to fill the role of Front Desk and Program Assistant for our partner organization, Manchester Police Athletic League (MPAL). The Manchester Police Athletic League is seeking a friendly and dependable Front Desk & Program Assistant to help create a comfortable and safe environment for youth and families at our busy community center. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children and families, thrives in a positive and active environment, and wants to make a difference in the community.
Job Responsibilities
- Support staff and volunteers with program needs as they arise
- Welcome youth participants and families entering the building
- Check participants in and out of programs and activities
- Answer phones and assist with general questions
- Collect, organize, and log new participant registrations
- Assist with light logistical tasks including laundry and equipment organization
Minimum Qualifications
- Current enrollment in classes as part of a SNHU degree program
- Work study part of financial aid package
- Students with work study may be prioritized
- Reliable transportation
- Friendly, positive, and dependable personality
- Comfortable interacting with youth and families from diverse backgrounds
- Basic computer and phone skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and customer service skills
Learning Outcomes (NACE Competencies)
- Gain experience managing front desk operations, including participant registration, data entry, phone communication, and visitor engagement.
- Strengthen organizational and administrative skills by maintaining records, tracking participation, and supporting program logistics.
- Learn how a nonprofit youth-serving organization operates, including program delivery, community partnerships, volunteer engagement, and family outreach.
- Students will gain hands-on experience in nonprofit operations, customer service, youth engagement, administrative support, community relations, and professional workplace communication while contributing to programs that positively impact local youth and families.
Work Schedule
Monday-Friday 3pm-8pm (flexible on amount of days; not shift hours)

Compensation
The hourly pay range for this position is $13.00 - $15.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations.
