An exciting opportunity is now open for an Engineer Project Coordinator with the City of Fort Worth Water Department’s In‑House Design Section (Capital Delivery). In this role, you’ll take the lead on designing and managing a variety of city engineering projects that directly support Fort Worth’s growing water and wastewater infrastructure.

The In‑House Design Section oversees both miscellaneous and large-scale capital improvement projects involving water and wastewater pipeline design, project management, and construction coordination. We’re looking for a highly motivated, detail‑oriented individual with a solid understanding of water/wastewater design who thrives in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology
  • Four (4) years of civil engineering, water/wastewater design, construction, or project coordination experience
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license in the State of Texas

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient skills using Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience with engineering software such as AutoCAD, GIS, or similar tools Strong communication and organizational skills for managing multiple projects and inquiries

The Engineer Project Coordinator job responsibilities include:

  • Lead and coordinate city infrastructure projects that improve daily life for Fort Worth residents
  • Apply your civil engineering expertise to design, inspect, and manage contracts for vital water and sanitary sewer improvements
  • Play a key role in construction procurement by preparing, reviewing, and evaluating bids, cost estimates, and change orders
  • Grow your career while working under the guidance of a Senior Professional Engineer
  • Respond to a high volume of inquiries from the public, internal teams, and partner organizations
  • Use and apply Fort Worth Water Department’s established engineering design criteria to ensure quality and compliance
  • Conduct research and tackle real-world engineering challenges with practical, creative problem-solving
  • Participate in professional meetings and conferences to stay connected, informed, and engaged within the engineering community

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking,

hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions. 

Sedentary Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
