Principal Engineer - Firmware

This is an exciting opportunity to drive innovation across firmware, RTOS, Linux, networking, and AWS IoT technologies while mentoring high performing engineering teams and collaborating with global stakeholders Your role Key responsibilities in your new role We are seeking an experienced Principal Firmware Engineer with 15+ years of expertise in embedded firmware development to lead the design, architecture, and implementation of complex connected products. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with embedded systems, RTOS, Linux, IoT cloud connectivity, networking protocols, and secure device lifecycle management. As a technical leader, you will define software architecture, drive engineering excellence, mentor teams, and collaborate with product, hardware, cloud, and customer-facing teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and secure solutions from concept to deployment. Your profile Qualifications and skills to help you succeed  Technical Leadership : Define  and  drive  firmware  architecture  for  embedded  and  IoT  products. Lead  end-to-end  firmware  development  from  requirements  through  production  release. Mentor  and  guide  firm ware  teams  across  multiple  projects. Conduct  architecture,  design,  code  and  quality  reviews. Establish  engineering  best  practices,  coding  standards  and  CI/CD  processes. Firmware & Embedded Development : Design  and  develop  firmware  for  ARM  Cortex-based  embedded  platforms. Develop  low-level  drivers,  bootloaders,  middleware,  and  application  software. Work  with  RTOS  and Linux based systems including Free RTOS, ThreadX, MbedOS and Embedded Linux. Optimize  firmware  for  performance,  memory  utilization,  reliability,  and  power  efficiency. Integrate  communication  interfaces  and  protocols  including  USB,  I2C , SPI,  SDIO,  I2S,  Wi-Fi,  MQTT,  HTTPS  and  Ethernet. Cloud & IoT Solutions : Design  and  implement  AWS  IoT-based  connected  device  solutions. Develop  device  provisioning,  onboarding, monitoring, telemetry ,  and  FOTA  capabilities. Collaborate  with  cloud  teams  to  enable  secure  and  scalable  device-cloud  architectures. Drive  secure  communication  and  life cycle  management  for  connected  devices. Security & Product Quality : Implement  Secure  Boot,  firmware  signing,  authentication,  and  secure  update  mechanisms. Drive  cybersecurity  best  practices  for  embedded  products. Ensure  product  reliability,  maintainability,  and  compliance  with  quality  standards. Program & Stakeholder Management : Support  product  roadmap  planning  and  technical  strategy. Collaborate with customers, architects, product managers, and engineering leaders. Drive  project  planning,  risk  management,  estimation,  and  milestone  execution. Support  Agile  development  and  release  management  processes.
