40POSITION PURPOSE:
Assists in managing, supervising, and continually improving the processes, operations, and performance of the Pharmacy. Supervises professional pharmacy personnel involved in the pharmacy operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Records transacted business and participates actively in the initiation, maintenance, and control of the hospital formulary system.
Performs staffing pharmacist duties as necessary for department needs
Assists with the dissemination of drug information to health care professionals and patients.
Completes the scheduling of staff and ensures all pay/time related issues (i.e., time clock, PTO requests, etc.) are handled efficiently and effectively.
Assists the director in ensuring that the appropriate security processes and procedures are in place for medications throughout the medical center.
Implements orientation, leads and organizes training programs, in-service training, and continuing education programs for all staff in the department.
Reviews and makes recommendations regarding the qualifications and competence of department staff who provide patient services.
Enforces policies and procedures to ensure departmental effectiveness; recommends revisions as needed.
Implements and maintains documentation as required by professional and organizational standards, including by not limited to, incidents, discipline/counseling, competencies, schedules, orientation, policies and procedures, proposals for equipment, supplies, capital expenditures, staff meeting, times and attendance.
Consults with other department directors, hospital administration, and other hospital staff as necessary or designated by the director.
Initiates appropriate action to correct problem areas and supervise interactions between pharmacy staff, hospital staff, and the public.
In the absence of the Director, assume the role of the Director.
SPECIALIZED KNOW-HOW AND REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy required. Master’s degree preferred.
Current Illinois Registered Pharmacist License required.
Computer literacy with in-depth knowledge of Windows and pharmacy software applications preferred.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communications skills required.
Compensation Range
