This role requires the use of initiative, independent judgment, and regular collaboration with various city departments and community organizations. Field Inspections: Conduct inspections in assigned areas to identify violations of the Municipal Code, including but not limited to: substandard housing, dilapidated structures, trash and debris, illegal dumping, overgrown vegetation, and abandoned vehicles. Consultation with Property Owners: Work directly with property owners to inform them of violations and explain necessary corrective actions to achieve compliance. Citizen Interaction: Respond to public inquiries, complaints, and concerns related to code enforcement. Provide feedback and guidance to help resolve violations. Complaint Resolution: Log, track, and investigate complaints via phone or in person. Determine code violations and initiate appropriate actions, such as issuing notices or compliance letters. Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate records, including daily reports, inspection details, and violation notices. Document all actions taken, including follow-up inspections and any legal proceedings. Legal Proceedings: Prepare for and potentially testify in court hearings or other legal actions related to code violations when voluntary compliance is not achieved. Collaboration: Communicate regularly with other city departments and external organizations to address violations, resolve issues, and ensure compliance. Community Engagement: Encourage and support local community groups in organizing neighborhood clean-up efforts and self-help programs. Travel: Drive a City vehicle to and from inspection sites and between assigned territories. Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with code enforcement regulations, attend seminars, and participate in relevant training to enhance knowledge and skills. Must have and maintain, without interruption, all necessary licenses, certifications, clearances, and/or job requirements. Work the assigned schedule and comply with City timekeeping and attendance policy. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent (college coursework preferred). Texas Code Enforcement Officer License, or ability to obtain Texas Code Enforcement Officer-In-Training License within 6 months of employment. Valid Texas driver's license and good driving record.
