The Director of Neighbor Engagement is a highly visible leadership role responsible for shaping how TAFB connects neighbors to nutritious food, community resources, and supportive services. This leader will set strategy, build partnerships, strengthen programs, and drive measurable impact across Community Education, the R.E.D. Bus, Garden & Farm programs, and benefits navigation throughout our 13-county service area.

Where YOU make the impact!

• You’ll provide strategic oversight of the Neighbor Engagement Department including Community Education, the R.E.D. Bus, Garden & Farm programs, and benefits navigation while setting a bold vision for integrated, neighbor-centered services.
• Set the vision and strategy for an integrated, high-impact Neighbor Engagement department.
• Drive innovative approaches that expand access to nutritious food, benefits, education, and supportive resources.
• Build and influence partnerships with healthcare providers, growers, producers, community organizations, and food-system leaders.
• You’ll ensure federal, state, grant-funded, and contractual programs meet all performance, data, budget, reporting, and compliance requirements.
• Identify opportunities, remove barriers, and turn community needs and neighbor feedback into action.
• Use data and performance measures to evaluate impact, improve programs, and scale what works.
• Advance community education, nutrition, food-system, and neighbor-experience initiatives across TAFB’s service area.
• Lead program goals, budgets, work plans, grants, reporting, and compliance with a strong focus on results.
• Develop and empower a high-performing multidisciplinary team with clear expectations, accountability, and room to innovate.
• Bring teams and partners together to solve complex challenges and create stronger, more coordinated community solutions.

Requirements

 What you’ll need to be successful!

• Bachelor’s degree in public health, social services, nutrition science, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
• Professional credential such as LCSW/LMSW or RD/LD required.
• Proven leadership experience in healthcare, community engagement, nutrition, social services, or related programs.
• Ability to think strategically, make decisions, take ownership, and move initiatives from idea to execution.
• Strong presence and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence diverse internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience leading, coaching, and developing high-performing teams.
• Knowledge of federal food-assistance programs and related compliance, documentation, and reporting requirements.
• Strong financial and operational acumen, including managing budgets, grants, performance measures, and competing priorities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Power BI, with the ability to use data to drive decisions and communicate impact.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred.
• A leadership style grounded in compassion, professionalism, integrity, curiosity, and a commitment to the neighbor experience.

A day in the Life:

• Full-time, in-person role with work across our main campus, community locations, and partner sites throughout the 13-county service area.
• Work may include walking, standing, sitting, and lifting up to 40 pounds.
• Regular travel throughout the service area with occasional state and national travel; reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and proof of insurance are required.
• Flexibility for occasional evening and weekend activities.
