EHS Specialist-JLL

What this job involves:

As an EHS Specialist at JLL, you'll serve as a critical safety partner during some of the most dynamic phases of our projects—from pre-construction planning through building transitions and day-one operations. This role centers on proactive risk management, ensuring that every project begins safely and every building operates with robust safety systems from the moment doors open. You'll develop and implement energy control procedures, review pre-construction risk assessments to identify potential hazards before work begins, and conduct project walks to verify compliance and effectiveness of safety measures. A significant focus of your work will involve managing vendor and contractor safety programs, evaluating their performance, and ensuring they meet our rigorous EHS standards. What your day-to-day will look like:

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive energy control procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) programs, to ensure safe isolation of hazardous energy sources during maintenance, servicing, and construction activities

• Review and approve pre-construction risk assessments (PCRAs) to identify potential hazards and verify that appropriate control measures are established before work commences

• Conduct regular project walks across active construction sites and operational facilities to monitor EHS compliance, identify emerging hazards, and confirm that control measures are effectively implemented

• Manage vendor and contractor safety programs by evaluating contractor safety performance, ensuring adherence to all EHS requirements, providing comprehensive safety orientations, and monitoring ongoing compliance

• Collaborate with project teams to integrate EHS considerations into first day of business activities and building transitions, including verifying that all safety systems are operational, obtaining necessary permits and approvals, and developing occupant training programs

• Participate in incident investigations related to your areas of responsibility, performing root cause analysis and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence

• Develop and deliver targeted EHS training programs covering energy control procedures, pre-construction safety protocols, contractor safety requirements, and building-specific safety orientations

Required qualifications:

• HS diploma or GED

• 3-5 years of progressive experience in an EHS role, preferably within construction, facilities management, or commercial real estate environments

• Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing energy control procedures, particularly Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) programs

• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, construction safety standards, and EHS compliance requirements

• Proven experience reviewing and approving pre-construction risk assessments and conducting effective safety inspections on active project sites

• Experience managing vendor and contractor safety programs, including performance evaluation and compliance monitoring

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to deliver effective training to diverse audiences including contractors, vendors, and building occupants

Preferred qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field

• Professional certification such as ASP (Associate Safety Professional), CSP (Certified Safety Professional), or CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician)

• Experience supporting building transitions, commissioning activities, or first day of business operations in commercial real estate settings

• Background in facility operations safety and understanding of building systems (HVAC, electrical, mechanical)

• Experience with incident investigation methodologies and root cause analysis techniques

• Familiarity with contractor prequalification systems and safety performance metrics

• Bilingual capabilities to support diverse contractor and occupant populations

Location: Santa Clara, CA

Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00 am-4:00pm

This position does not provide visa sponsorship. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Expected compensation for this position:

85,000.00 – 120,000.00 USD per year

Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
