GENERAL STATEMENT OF THE FUNCTION

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

·         Bachelor’s degree required and state of Mississippi teaching certification in Math, Science, English, College & Career Readiness, and/or US History.

·         Experience working with high school students, particularly students from educationally or economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

·         Experience providing tutoring, academic intervention, advising, mentoring, or student support services.

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills.

·         Ability to analyze academic data and identify student needs.

·         Ability to maintain confidential records.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

·         Maintain knowledge of legislation, and best practices.

·         Serve participants in the after-school/ Saturday Academy tutorial program (via face to face, virtual, and/or hybrid).

·         Develop and implement individualized academic intervention plans for students requiring additional support.

·         Provide one-on-one and small-group academic interventions.

·         Assist students with challenging coursework, study strategies, organization, time management, note taking, test preparation, and homework completion.

·         Provide targeted support in mathematics, English/language arts, science, social studies, and other academic areas as appropriate.

·         Adjust intervention strategies based on student performance and documented progress.

·         Refer students to additional academic resources when needs exceed the scope of position.

·         Ensure that tutoring activities are documented appropriately.

·         Track student grades and intervention outcomes.

·         Communicate significant academic concerns to the Project Director in a timely manner.

·         Make recommendations for continued, modified, or discontinued intervention services based on the student's progress.

·         Assist with educational field trips, college tours, and other program activities when appropriate.

·         Serve as an academic resource for students throughout the program year.

·         Other duties as assigned.
