Position Summary
Candescent is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Sales Commission Analyst to join our Finance team. Based in Melville, NY, this role will be responsible for administering, calculating, validating, and reporting on sales compensation programs across the organization. The Sales Commission Analyst will partner closely with Finance, Sales Leadership, HR, and Revenue Operations to ensure commission plans are accurately executed, timely paid, and aligned with company objectives.
This position is ideal for someone with a strong accounting or finance background who enjoys working with large datasets, performing reconciliations, identifying discrepancies, and driving process improvements. Similar to a Senior Accountant role, this position requires a high level of accuracy, analytical rigor, internal controls discipline, and cross-functional collaboration. The role is informed by Candescent's internal finance and sales operations responsibilities emphasizing reporting accuracy, analysis, and business partnership.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Commission Administration
· Calculate monthly, quarterly, and annual sales commissions in accordance with approved compensation plans.
· Validate commission results through detailed audits, reconciliations, and exception reporting.
· Maintain accurate records of commission calculations, adjustments, and supporting documentation.
· Partner with Payroll to ensure timely and accurate payment processing.
· Research and resolve commission inquiries from sales representatives and leadership.
Financial Analysis & Reporting
· Prepare commission accruals and support month-end and quarter-end close activities.
· Reconcile commission expense accounts and related balance sheet accounts.
· Develop recurring reports, dashboards, and metrics for Sales and Executive Leadership.
· Analyze compensation trends and identify opportunities to improve program effectiveness.
· Assist with budgeting and forecasting of commission expense.
Controls, Compliance & Process Improvement
· Maintain strong internal controls over sales compensation processes.
· Document commission methodologies, business rules, and procedures.
· Ensure compliance with company policies and audit requirements.
· Identify opportunities to automate calculations, improve reporting, and streamline processes.
· Support implementation and enhancement of commission management tools and workflows.
Cross-Functional Partnership
· Collaborate with Sales, Revenue Operations, Accounting, FP&A, HR, and Payroll teams.
· Review new compensation plans and assess operational impact.
· Support annual plan updates and compensation model changes.
· Provide data-driven insights to leadership regarding incentive effectiveness and sales performance.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
· 3-5+ years of experience in accounting, sales compensation, financial analysis, commission administration, payroll, or a related finance function.
· Strong understanding of financial reconciliations, accruals, and reporting concepts.
· Advanced Excel skills including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Power Query, and complex formulas.
· Experience working with ERP, payroll, CRM, or commission systems.
· Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred
· Experience with Salesforce, SPIFF, Workday, or similar compensation platforms.
· Experience supporting SaaS, fintech, technology, or high-growth organizations.
· Knowledge of ASC 606 and revenue-related compensation considerations.
· Experience with Power BI or other reporting and analytics tools.
The base salary range for this position is $92,000 -115, 000 per year. This range represents the expected base compensation for this role and is based on factors such as skills, experience, geographic location, and job‑related qualifications.
