Software Engineer III

Position Summary...

The Software Engineer II is a hands-on technical role within Walmart's US Operations & Technology organization. This position ensures the
stability, reliability, and continuous improvement of enterprise applications including Anomaly Detection (AD) and Clearance Markdown (CMD)
systems — tools that directly protect Walmart's customer pricing trust and EDLP brand commitment.
You will serve as a critical link between business stakeholders and engineering teams, owning incident resolution, driving automation to
reduce manual toil, and contributing to code-level solutions that scale. This is a high-visibility role that requires strong technical depth, sound
judgment, and a collaborative approach in a fast-paced, high-impact environment

What you'll do...

Automation & Operational Efficiency

• Identify repetitive operational tasks and design automation solutions using Python, PowerShell, or equivalent scripting tools.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to scale automation adoption and reduce manual intervention.
• Support automation initiatives that measurably improve throughput and reduce error rates.

Code Development & Technical Delivery

• Develop, test, and deploy solutions using Python, Java, SQL, or equivalent languages.
• Build proofs of concept (POCs) to evaluate feasibility and address business requirements.
• Create test cases, validate solution design, and maintain code documentation and operational playbooks.
• Evaluate change requests for technical feasibility, risk, and downstream impact.

Application Support & Incident Management

• Investigate, diagnose, and resolve production incidents within defined SLAs to ensure minimal business disruption.
• Record, classify, and track incidents; perform corrective actions for moderate-to-complex issues.
• Act as liaison between internal stakeholders and external engineering teams for escalated issues.
• Maintain detailed runbooks, troubleshooting guides, and post-incident documentation.
• Proactively identify recurring failure patterns and drive permanent root-cause fixes.
• Good experience and knowledge of ITSM Support processes and related tools is mandatory

for the Technology Support engineer position.

• Candidate should be Flexible for 16*7 Day shifts.

Monitoring, Performance & Configuration Management

• Monitor application and system performance using enterprise observability tools; define alert thresholds and respond proactively.
• Track key performance indicators including availability, MTTR, latency, and error rates.
• Support configuration and release management processes across environments; maintain configuration data repositories.
• Perform analysis and validation for all configuration changes prior to deployment.

Requirement Analysis & Cross-Team Collaboration

• Analyze business and technical requirements and contribute to solution design and architecture discussions.
• Partner with product, data, and engineering teams to align solutions with business priorities.
• Create and maintain user stories, traceability matrices, and technical specifications.
• Identify risks and gaps early and recommend mitigation strategies to stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; OR equivalent work experience.
• Demonstrated experience in application support, production support, or IT operations roles.
• Proficiency with incident management platforms such as ServiceNow or Jira.
• Hands-on experience with scripting and automation tools (Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar).
• Knowledge in Java/J2EE would be an added advantage
• Working knowledge of Active Directory and enterprise application ecosystems.
• Familiarity with monitoring and alerting systems (e.g.,Grafana, Datadog, or equivalent).

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, or cloud-based systems (GCP, Azure, or AWS).
• Experience in a large-scale retail or e-commerce engineering environment.
