Description

Summary of the role:

The Lead Workday Security Administrator & Integration Developer is a dual-focused, senior technical role responsible for safeguarding the security and compliance of the Workday platform while designing, developing, and supporting enterprise-scale integrations across the global HR technology landscape. This role combines deep Workday security administration expertise with hands-on integration development to ensure that HR data is protected, access is appropriately governed, and system connectivity is secure, scalable, and high-performing.

As a senior member of the Workday Integrations & Platform Team, this position serves as a technical lead and subject-matter expert — owning the security configuration model, partnering with HR, HRIS, IT, Internal Audit, and Information Security stakeholders, and mentoring integration developers and platform administrators. The role operates within an agile delivery model and drives continuous improvement, automation, and AI/GenAI-enabled solutions across a mature Workday ecosystem.

You will report to Manager, HR Technologies. Our team is based out of Bangalore and works in a hybrid model.

About the role:

Workday Security Administration

  • Own and administer the Workday security model — domain security policies, business process security policies, and security groups (user-based, role-based, and constrained), enforcing segregation-of-duties (SoD) controls.
  • Design, configure, and maintain role assignments, security groups, and access provisioning aligned to least-privilege principles.
  • Lead periodic access reviews, security audits, and SOX/compliance certifications; remediate findings and maintain audit-ready documentation.
  • Manage authentication configuration — SAML/SSO, multi-factor authentication, and delegated authentication settings.
  • Assess the security impact of new features and functional changes across Workday R1/R2 release cycles.
  • Monitor security-related tenant activity, investigate access issues, and respond to security incidents and requests.
  • Maintain and enhance data privacy controls, field- and instance-level security, and PII/PHI safeguards.

Workday Integration Development

  • Design, build, test, and deploy Workday integrations using Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, and Workday web service APIs.
  • Develop and support Workday Extend applications and orchestration-based workflows.
  • Build and maintain secure REST/SOAP integrations and web services with internal and third-party systems.
  • Embed security best practices into integration design — encryption, secure credential handling, and least-privilege Integration System Users (ISU) and Integration System Security Groups (ISSG).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues; perform root cause analysis and implement preventive fixes.
  • Support integrations across HCM domains including Core HCM, Payroll, Absence, Time & Labor, Benefits, and Compensation.
  • Participate in AI/GenAI-driven automation use cases and Copilot-enabled integrations.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation (TDDs), security design artifacts, and integration runbooks.

Collaboration

  • Partner with HR, HRBPs, COEs, IT, Internal Audit, and Information Security to deliver business-aligned, compliant solutions.
  • Ensure adherence to agile practices, change management, testing standards, and deployment governance.

Key Result Areas (Success Measures)

  • Maintain a secure, compliant, and audit-ready Workday tenant with no critical security findings.
  • Enforce least-privilege access and effective segregation-of-duties controls.
  • Deliver robust, scalable, and secure Workday integrations aligned with business requirements.
  • Meet operational SLAs across incidents, enhancements, security requests, and releases.
  • Ensure high system stability, performance, and data integrity across integrations and security configuration.
  • Provide proactive monitoring, issue resolution, and continuous improvement.
  • Strengthen security and integration architecture and ensure best-practice adoption.
  • Enable seamless, secure collaboration across HR, IT, and business stakeholders.

About you:

  • Workday certification in Security Administration and/or Integrations development.
  • Extensive hands-on experience administering the Workday security framework (domain and business process security, security groups, SoD).
  • Experience/understanding of Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, and Workday APIs.
  • Experience configuring SSO/SAML, ISU/ISSG, and secure credential management.
  • Solid understanding of Workday architecture, the HCM data model, and reporting / calculated fields.
  • Working knowledge of SOX, data privacy, and audit and compliance requirements for HR systems.
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
  • Provide technical leadership, and mentor junior team members.
  • Prior experience as a Workday Security Lead or Platform Administrator in a global enterprise.
  • Experience supporting Workday releases (R1/R2) and tenant administration.
  • Familiarity with ITIL / ServiceNow-based incident and change management.
  • Experience operating within global HR delivery models and across multiple time zones.
  • 7–12 years of overall experience.
  • 4–7+ years in Workday Security Administration and/or Integrations.
  • Demonstrated experience in a senior or lead capacity.
  • Support global teams across multiple time zones.
