Responsible for providing Cybersecurity locally during the development, implementation and operational stages of assets, like e.g. portfolio elements, software systems, networks and data centers.

Key Responsibilities:

Federal Cybersecurity, Risk, and Authorization Leadership

• Serve as the Federal Accounts subject matter expert for federal cybersecurity, information assurance, technology compliance, and security authorization requirements affecting Varian solutions.

• Support leadership and cross-functional teams with Federal cybersecurity, compliance, and authorization requirements, including DoD RMF, NIST SP 800-37 and SP 800-53, FISMA, FedRAMP, ATO, ERA, ATC, MOU-ISA, continuous monitoring, and vulnerability management, while coordinating technical readiness reviews, documentation, risk assessments, stakeholder inputs, and technical validation activities that support authorization efforts.

• Track evolving federal policies and approval status for products and versions; assess business and technical impacts, communicate requirements, and support risk mitigation and Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) development.

• Provide cybersecurity and compliance guidance during proposals, contracting, project planning, implementation, modernization, and lifecycle sustainment, including situations in which product approval has not yet been obtained.

Government IT Architecture and Connectivity

• Serve as technical advisor for federal network integration, enterprise architecture, cybersecurity design, and infrastructure dependencies involving Active Directory, SQL Server, virtualization, PKI and certificate services, firewalls, cloud services, secure remote access, system interfaces, and network-connected medical devices.

• Support DHA Business-to-Business (B2B), site-to-site connectivity, VPN, digital certificate, network access, MOU/ISA, and ATC initiatives and coordinate directly with customer IT and cybersecurity organizations.

• Review proposed deployment and integration architectures to identify dependencies, cybersecurity considerations, implementation risks, and barriers before execution, and guide teams toward workable, compliant solutions.

Product Modernization and Technical Strategy

• Support strategic planning and modernization involving Radiation Oncology software upgrades, treatment delivery systems, other medical devices, cloud solutions, database migrations and consolidations, platform transitions, infrastructure improvements, and enterprise integration.

• Evaluate architecture, infrastructure, integration, and cybersecurity impacts associated with new products, software versions, connected devices, cloud-hosted designs, and emerging technologies.

• Represent federal customer requirements, infrastructure constraints, authorization needs, and deployment dependencies to Product Management, Engineering, Product Security, Regulatory, Service, and Installations to influence product roadmaps, technical designs, and adoption strategies.

Customer, Executive, and Cross-Functional Engagement

• Build trusted relationships with federal customer leadership, CIO organizations, information security officers, cybersecurity officials, and technical stakeholders, representing Varian as a credible advisor on technology, compliance, integration, and modernization.

• Translate complex technical and cybersecurity issues for technical and non-technical audiences and support executive briefings, cybersecurity reviews, customer meetings, strategic planning, and issue escalation.

• Provide cross-coverage and technical support for other Federal Accounts resources when needed to maintain continuity of customer support and program execution while preserving established ownership and accountability.

       Serve as a technical subject matter expert and escalation resource for Federal Accounts, partnering with Service, Engineering, Product Management, Cybersecurity and customer stakeholders to investigate, troubleshoot, and support the resolution of complex software, infrastructure, connectivity, cybersecurity, and product-related issues impacting customer operations and solution deployment.

Process, Documentation, and Knowledge Management

• Develop and maintain Federal Accounts IT and Cybersecurity standard operating procedures, technical guidance, templates, training materials, and customer-facing resources.

• Create repeatable processes that streamline authorization, product approval, technology deployment, risk management, and organizational knowledge sharing across federal programs.

Minimum Required Skills and Knowledge:

• Deep knowledge of federal cybersecurity and authorization frameworks, including RMF, NIST SP 800-37, NIST SP 800-53, FISMA, FedRAMP, ATO, ERA, and related security control and assessment practices.

• Working knowledge of cybersecurity controls, vulnerability management, compliance assessments, continuous monitoring, risk mitigation, network architecture, secure connectivity, VPN technologies, and medical device or healthcare system integration.

• Ability to interpret federal directives, technical standards, contractual obligations, and customer requirements and convert them into practical technical and operational actions.

• Strong executive presence, presentation, communication, consultation, and relationship-management skills, with the ability to operate independently across multiple high-priority initiatives and complex stakeholder groups.

• Demonstrated ability to coordinate effectively across Engineering, Product Management, Product Security, Cybersecurity, Regulatory, Service, Installations, customer IT, and federal program organizations.

·         Candidate must have or able to acquire CompTIA Security+, PIV card, and CAC with ALT token access

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Engineering, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field preferred.

• Seven or more years of experience supporting healthcare technology, cybersecurity, federal programs, medical device integration, enterprise software, or similarly regulated environments.

• Experience participating in RMF assessments, ATO programs, FISMA compliance, security authorization, federal healthcare IT, or comparable government or defense initiatives; experience with DHA, DoD, VHA, VA, or other federal agencies preferred.

• Security+, CISSP, CISM, CAP, or comparable cybersecurity certification preferred.

The base pay range for this position is:

$143,900 - $197,868

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

If this is a commission eligible position the commission eligibility will be in accordance with the terms of the Company's plan. Commissions are based on individual performance and/or company performance.
