The Auckland Inner Islands Site Support Officer plays a key role in supporting the Hauraki Gulf Inner Islands team, providing essential administrative, logistical, property andfleet support across offices located on Hauturu, Kawau, Motuora. Tiritiri Matangi, and Motutapu Islands, Motuihe and Devonport.
This is a unique opportunity to work across multiple island sites while supporting a diverse range of biodiversity, visitor, heritage and community programmes. You’ll help keep our operations (property and fleet) running smoothly and safely, ensuring our teams have what they need to deliver meaningful conservation outcomes. This includes supporting day-to-day coordination across Hauraki Gulf Island sites and accommodation and managing practical fleet administration across multiple island locations.
The position will be focussed on:
- Supporting the Site Lead with the day-to-day coordination of DOC premises and facilities, including responding to site issues, arranging routine maintenance, coordinating contractor access and ensuring identified facility matters are followed through.
- Being the go-to person for general office management and day-to-day administrative support.
- Coordinating fleet compliance and administration to help ensure DOC vehicles are fit for purpose and maintained as required. This includes bi-monthly vehicle checks, registrations, servicing, WOFs or 6-monthly LUV safety checks, maintaining fleet records and following up any identified issues.
- Coordinating vehicle transport and servicing logistics for island-based fleet, including arranging barge transport, working with approved service providers, coordinating vehicle movements and supporting biosecurity requirements when vehicles move on and off islands.
- Supporting property and staff accommodation administration, including maintaining relevant property records and compliance documentation, supporting requirements such as Healthy Homes where applicable, and coordinating administrative follow-up with contractors or relevant internal teams.
- Supporting site health and safety requirements, including safety and fire drills, site inductions, scheduled checks and ACC safety audits.
- Undertaking other ad hoc site support tasks related to property, fleet, facilities and operational administration as required.
Please note: This role is 0.5FTE. Days/ Hours to be negotiated between hiring manager and successful candidate.
