Why It's a Great Opportunity: In this role you will work on the Surface Water Management (SWM) team that provides capital project delivery for engineering design, environmental permitting, property acquisition, construction management, and project oversight. Your primary focus will be on supporting consultants and the internal design team to increase production and expedite projects. You will use your experience and knowledge in project delivery for surface water projects such as fish passage culverts, floodplain reconnection, levee setbacks, water quality, and more. You will communicate and plan this work with consultants and your team while utilizing HEC-RAS, Bluebeam, GIS, AutoCAD, Hydraulic and Hydrologic modeling, and other computer applications to ensure that projects are successfully completed.

Core Daily Responsibilities: 

• Develops, administers, designs, and inspects capital improvement projects, which may include, culverts, traffic control devices, storm sewer structures, water quality enhancement facilities, or other appurtenances.
• Studies, analyzes, and prepares engineering-related reports as required by state, federal and local authorities. Presents findings orally or in writing to county staff, officials, or other agencies.
• Reviews and recommends changes to engineer prepared plans to meet County standards.
• Reviews projects for compliance with Critical Areas regulations and writes project conditions. Evaluates project impacts and reviews proposed mitigation.
• Prepares and reviews comprehensive engineering plans and cost estimates.
• Calculates and verifies pay quantities for proper payment for contracted services, reviews calculations and accuracy of submittals.
