ELECTION WAREHOUSE SUPPORT/ ELECTION WORKER (EXTRA HELP)
Orange County Registrar of Voters (ROV) will begin accepting applications for the Election Warehouse Support/ Election Worker (Extra Help) position on Friday, August 21, 2026, this recruitment will be posted for a minimum of five (5) business days and will remain open on a continuous basis until the needs of the Agency are met. Qualified applicants are encouraged to apply immediately. The first review of applications will be done on or about Monday, August 24, 2026.
These are Extra Help temporary/seasonal positions (these are NOT permanent positions). These positions will often require overtime, both in the evenings and on weekends.
REGISTRAR OF VOTERS
The Registrar of Voters, a nationally recognized and award-winning agency, is responsible for conducting elections, verifying petitions and maintaining voter records in the County of Orange, the fifth largest voting jurisdiction in the United States with 1.9 million active registered voters. The department receives funding from the County's General Fund and periodic reimbursement from the federal government, the State of California and local jurisdictions. The Registrar of Voters' staff includes 54 full-time employees, and numerous extra help employees who support various election related positions representing the broad spectrum of Orange County's population. The department is responsible for all components of election management.

THE OPPORTUNITY
The Registrar of Voters has an immediate need to fill multiple positions on our Warehouse team. These positions generally work a standard Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm schedule. As we move closer to Election Day, split shifts, and overtime in the evenings and on weekends will occur. The following are examples of duties in this position.
Supply/Inventory Management
- Process, receive, verify and inventory equipment & supplies prior to and after election
- Load and unload materials to and from delivery trucks physically, with or without the use of a forklift/pallet jack.
- Sets up supply distribution points prior to the election and prepares the warehouse for election night activities
Mail Processing
- Collects and prepares outgoing and incoming mail.
- Collects and delivers official mail to/from the post office.
- Processes incoming & outgoing Vote by Mail (VBM) ballots through scanning equipment
- Loads and runs the VBM ballots through the ballot extracting machine to ensure it is ready for processing.
Equipment Assembly
- Inspects both visually & electronically equipment and prepares for elections.
- Labels equipment for inventory and tracking
- Conducts inventory and prepares equipment for storage after elections
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIES
In addition to the duties listed in this bulletin, the ideal candidate will possess experience with the following:
- Any level of experience in one or more areas described above
- Forklift operator certificate
- Computer literate (basic functions)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Possession of a valid California Driver’s License
- Schedule flexibility – including night shifts and weekends
- Ability to read and speak English
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to work individually and in a team environment

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
All candidates considered for this position will be required to successfully pass a background check consisting of employment history, professional references, criminal check, and pre-employment physical. Possession of a valid California drivers’ license, Class C, and a clean driving record while employed in this classification might be required by the date of appointment. A driving records check consisting of a Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) check will be conducted to verify the clean driving record.
RECRUITMENT PROCESS
The Registrar of Voters Administrative Services Department will screen all application materials to identify qualified candidates. After screening, qualified candidates will be referred to the next step and notified of all further procedures applicable to their status in the competition.

Applications and supplemental responses will be screened for qualifications that are highly desirable and most needed to successfully perform the duties of this job. Only those applicants that meet the qualifications as listed in the job bulletin will be referred to the next step.

Only the most qualified candidates will move forward to the next step in the recruitment process or will be placed on the eligible list.
Training and Experience Evaluation (Weighted 100%):
As part of the selection process, applicants must submit a thorough application, responses to supplemental questions and any other requested documents, (e.g., licensures, transcripts, etc.) describing their specific work experience as it relates to this opportunity. Eligible List
Once all assessments have been completed, the Registrar of Voters Administrative Services Department will establish an eligible list of candidates. Candidates placed on the eligible list may be referred to a selection interview to be considered for present and future extra help vacancies.
Based on the Department's needs, the selection procedure listed above may be modified. All candidates will be notified of any changes in the selection procedure.
