Location: Durrington, West Sussex (hybrid, 2 days in office and 3 day remotely per week) Whilst this is a Hybrid role, training and settling in periods (for at least the first 8 weeks), this will be fully office based.
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: 38, Monday to Friday (1 in 10 weekends worked as overtime (1 day per weekend Saturday or Sunday on rotation)).
Salary: circa £36,000 per annum; depending on skills and experience

About the role
We’re actively hiring for a Proactive Performance Analyst to join our team in our Durrington office in West Sussex. As part of Southern Water’s drive to enhance and protect the environment, the Proactive Analytics team are working to reduce pollutions, using the latest innovative solutions and working in partnership with our customers and stakeholders.
You will be responsible for proactively investigating data trends to find faults on assets prior to failure and ensure data is available for proactive intervention.
What you’ll be responsible for
- Analysing data, trends and information from a range of systems to identify trends, risks and emerging performance issues on assets
- Diagnosing potential wastewater and water asset problems and recommending appropriate preventative or corrective actions.
- Raising, and tracking remedial work to ensure timely intervention takes place.
- Making performance data and insight available to internal teams, including Assets, Catchment Inspectors, County Sewerage Engineers, operational teams and external partners.
- Supporting the development of business cases for strategic investment in systems, processes and proactive interventions.
What you’ll bring to the role
We’re looking for someone who is curious, analytical and confident working with data to support operational decision making. You don’t need to know everything on day one, but you’ll need to be willing to learn, adapt and get involved.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to interpret trends and turn data into clear recommendations.
- Confidence using, systems and reporting tools to handle, analyse and present information.
- A logical, methodical approach and the ability to think through problems to identify practical solutions.
- Strong prioritisation skills, with the ability to work under pressure and manage tasks within tight deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence to explain findings and proposals clearly to different audiences.
- The ability to work independently or as part of a team, with minimal direction when required.
- A proactive, innovative and “can do” mindset, with a willingness to question the norm and look for better ways of working.
- Relevant experience in the water industry or a degree demonstrating strong analytical ability would be desirable, but is not essential.
