Job Description Summary

The Field Service Automation Deployment Lead is a recognized expert in robotics and automation responsible for shaping and directing GE Vernova’s global automation strategy. Serving as a senior strategic lead, this role drives the modernization of maintenance practices for our global fleet of fielded equipment by defining and implementing enterprise-wide deployment policies. The successful candidate acts as the primary technical authority, bridging the gap between complex automation architectures and site-level execution to ensure solutions are robust, scalable, and compliant with rigorous performance, safety, and cybersecurity standards. By providing functional leadership to cross-functional teams and system integrators, this professional manages the end-to-end integration and commissioning lifecycle, exercising high-level judgment to resolve complex technical challenges and influence the long-term operational excellence of GE Vernova’s automation ecosystem.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Define and implement global deployment standards and policies for field service automation, directly influencing the overarching maintenance strategy for GE Vernova’s enterprise fleet.
  • Drive the concept development, build, integration, and commissioning activities for field service automation projects, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
  • Lead and execute the development of project scope, schedules, deliverables, and integration requirements partnering with vendors, system integrators, internal technical teams, and GE Vernova business partners.
  • Manage all aspects of field service automation deployment, including installation, testing, validation, and transition to production, ensuring full compliance with safety and cyber standards.
  • Exercise independent, high-level judgment to resolve complex, multi-variable technical challenges where standard procedures may not yet exist, effectively balancing cost, speed, and safety in high-stakes environments.
  • Monitor project performance against KPIs, budgets, and milestones; proactively mitigate risks and resolve complex issues to ensure delivery excellence.
  • Establish and maintain documentation for project plans, technical specifications, commissioning checklists, and lessons learned.
  • Collaborate with technical authorities and stakeholders to ensure solutions are robust, scalable, and fit for purpose.
  • Support vendor management and performance oversight during the build and commissioning phases.
  • Drive continuous improvement by ensuring post-project reviews and sharing best practices for automation deployment.
  • Foster strong working relationships with stakeholders across engineering, operations, safety, cybersecurity, and IT/OT functions.
  • Provide functional leadership and mentorship to project-based teams and system integrators, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement across all deployment sites.
  • Serve as the primary technical authority for field service automation, providing specialized guidance to regional leads and business partners on feasibility, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Automation, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience building and deploying industrial automation solutions in complex, large-scale organizations.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of automation architectures, industrial safety standards, and cybersecurity protocols within heavy industry.
  • Judgment & Influence: Demonstrated ability to influence strategy, gain cross-functional buy-in, and provide expert technical consultation.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to interpret industry trends and translate complex business challenges into actionable, scalable technical solutions.
  • Communication: Superior ability to communicate difficult technical concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders, including senior leadership and site-level teams.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to customer/site locations as required (Estimated: 20%).

Desired Characteristics:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Automation, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of professional experience in large-scale industrial automation.
  • Formal program/project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated experience leading small-to-medium project teams in matrixed, multi-site environments.
  • Technical proficiency in Augmented Reality (AR), visual inspection, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), and robotic platforms.
  • Hands-on field service maintenance experience in the energy, manufacturing, or heavy industry sectors.
  • A "continuous learner" mindset with a passion for driving innovation and operational excellence.
