A Day in the Life

The EMEA Trade Manager is responsible for managing trade operations, procedures, internal controls, and training across the EMEA region, with primary focus on the EU, Great Britain, Norway, and Switzerland. You ensure efficient and effective management of day-to-day import and export activities, tariff classification, broker management, business continuity planning, customs support, and implementation of local trade requirements. You lead trade operations professionals and support both regional and global trade initiatives to ensure compliance, operational excellence, and strong customer service

You will report to the EMEA Trade Operations Director. The role is based in Heerlen and follows a hybrid work model. You will be expected to occasionally work from the Heerlen office.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Lead and develop a team of trade operations professionals, providing coaching, direction, and support across all aspects of talent management.
  • Oversee day-to-day import and export operations, including trade inquiries, shipment oversight, non-inventory shipments, hand-carry support, and quarter-end requirements.
  • Ensure operational performance and service expectations are met, including OTIF and other key performance indicators.
  • Manage tariff classification and trade compliance activities for EU, Great Britain, Norway, and Switzerland, ensuring consistency, harmonization, and adherence to regional requirements.
  • Oversee broker and carrier relationships, including preferred broker programs, integrated carriers, broker requests, and performance reviews, to ensure compliance with SOPs and customs requirements.
  • Maintain and improve trade operations processes, work instructions, and related documentation through regular review and updates based on business needs.
  • Partner with internal and global stakeholders on business continuity planning, system testing, hypercare, audits, trade reporting, and regional/global trade initiatives to support effective cross-border movement of goods.

 

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • 5 or more years of experience in trade compliance or trade operations, with experience working in a regional or global trade compliance environment.
  • 2 or more years of project management experience, ideally supporting complex programs, process development, or systems implementation.
  • Experience in trade compliance or trade operations within EMEA.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, International Trade, Supply Chain, Customs Law, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to influence across functions and levels; people leadership experience, process improvement experience, and experience in a regulated industry are preferred.

Pay range / Rango salarial / Intervalo salarial /Fascia retributiva / Tranche de salaire / Gehaltsband / Salaribereik:  Netherlands: 82,400.00 EUR - 123,600.00 EUR | 

 

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
