Maintenance Technician
Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL
Compensation: $55,000–$65,000 salary + bonus potential

Position Overview
A commercial real estate organization is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to support the day-to-day maintenance and operation of properties throughout the Fort Lauderdale market. This is a hands-on position responsible for troubleshooting building issues, completing repairs, performing preventative maintenance, and coordinating with outside vendors when specialized work is required.
The ideal candidate has broad experience maintaining commercial buildings and is comfortable working independently, responding to tenant needs, and identifying maintenance issues before they become larger problems.
Key Responsibilities

Respond promptly and professionally to tenant maintenance and service requests.

Perform general building repairs involving plumbing, lighting, locks, doors, fixtures, and other building components.

Troubleshoot building systems and determine whether repairs can be completed internally or require an outside contractor.

Assist with the maintenance and repair of mechanical and HVAC equipment.

Perform preventative maintenance to help keep building systems operating safely and efficiently.

Regularly inspect properties and identify repair or maintenance needs.

Coordinate and oversee contractors, vendors, and repair technicians performing work at assigned properties.

Help ensure vendor work is completed properly, safely, and with minimal disruption to tenants.

Coordinate required inspections and service involving fire alarm and sprinkler systems.

Maintain building exteriors, grounds, parking areas, and common property areas.

Complete work orders accurately and document completed repairs and maintenance activities.

Maintain records of labor, materials, equipment, and supplies used for maintenance projects.

Maintain maintenance areas, tools, and equipment in a clean and safe condition.

Perform general property cleanup and address maintenance-related appearance issues as needed.

Travel between assigned properties and operate a company vehicle when required.

Communicate with tenants, property management, vendors, and other team members regarding maintenance needs and project status.

Assist with additional property maintenance projects and responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
-
3+ years of building maintenance, facilities maintenance, property maintenance, or related experience.

Experience maintaining commercial or industrial properties is strongly preferred.

Working knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, electrical, mechanical systems, and general building repairs.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

Experience coordinating with outside contractors and service vendors.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple maintenance requests and priorities.

Strong communication and customer service skills.
-
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training is a plus.

Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.

Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus, but not required.
Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and carry materials, tools, and equipment weighing approximately 25 pounds or more as required.

Ability to climb ladders and safely work at elevated heights.

Ability to regularly stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, and perform other physical activities associated with building maintenance.

Comfortable operating hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.

Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and environmental conditions.

Ability to regularly travel between assigned properties.
Compensation
$55,000–$65,000 annual salary + bonus potential, based on experience and qualifications with health, dental, vision plans and 401K match.
