Role purpose:
To lead the commercial growth and development of the Optical product range across UK and international markets, combining technical expertise, customer insight and commercial understanding to maximise sales, profitability and market potential. The role is responsible for building strong relationships with customers, OEMs, distributors and internal stakeholders, ensuring the Optical offering continues to meet market requirements and provides a clear competitive advantage.
The role will provide specialist technical leadership across the business, supporting Sales and Service teams with product knowledge, customer solutions and training, while working closely with Product Development and Marketing to identify and deliver product improvements, new opportunities and effective market positioning. Through customer and market feedback, competitor analysis and close collaboration across functions, the role will help shape the future development of the Optical portfolio and strengthen its position within the global measurement market.

Key Accountabilities:
- Drive sales growth of Optical measurement products against agreed budgets across UK and export markets
- Provide specialist technical support to Sales, customers, OEMs and distributors, acting as the key point of expertise for Optical systems
- Present Optical products, applications and benefits to customers and commercial partners as required
- Manage the commercial performance of the Optical product range, including annual sales and profit budgets
- Support Sales with quotations, product selection and technical input to customer opportunities
- Gather and analyse customer and market feedback to identify product improvement and development opportunities
- Work with Product Development to support new product development, product improvements and future market requirements
- Monitor competitor products, specifications, pricing and delivery to identify market opportunities and competitive differentiators
- Work with Marketing to develop and maintain effective product information, technical content and promotional materials
- Work with Service to ensure effective customer support covering installation, product training, maintenance and technical enquiries
- Develop and support technical training for internal and external personnel, including calibration, software configuration, troubleshooting and diagnostic best practice
- Identify gaps in technical documentation and training materials and coordinate their development with the relevant teams
- Support the development and capability of Sales personnel through product training and technical guidance
- Maintain strong knowledge of the Optical market, customer requirements, emerging technologies and competitive landscape
- Provide technical guidance across the wider business as Optical product knowledge and expertise develops

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Strong technical knowledge of optical measurement systems and their applications
- Proven commercial and sales experience within a technical product environment
- Experience of working with UK and international customers, OEMs and distributors
- Ability to understand customer requirements and translate these into appropriate technical and commercial solutions
- Strong understanding of product development, product lifecycle and continuous improvement
- Experience of competitor and market analysis within a technical or engineering environment
- Confident presenting technical products and solutions to a range of audiences
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with both technical and commercial stakeholders
- Ability to provide effective technical training and knowledge transfer
- Commercially aware, with experience of working to sales, revenue and/or profit targets
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently
- Ability to work collaboratively across Sales, Product Development, Service and Marketing
- Proactive approach to identifying opportunities, solving problems and improving customer experience
- Willingness and ability to travel within the UK and internationally as required
