Please note: Job postings close at 11:59:59 p.m. the night before the listed Posting End Date above.Cherry Research Station is hiring an Agricultural Technician II to support agricultural operations, primarily in livestock production. This position requires the employee to participate in all facets of livestock husbandry, including feeding, animal health and medical care, newborn animal management, and general livestock care.
Key Responsibilities:
• Milk cows on a scheduled rotating shift, which may require early morning or late evening work.
• Perform pasture management and forage production activities.
• Assist with facility, equipment, and general farm maintenance and repairs.
• Perform routine livestock husbandry activities
• Operate farm equipment and perform other duties associated with general agricultural and farm operations.
The individual in this position will be required to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis as workload and operational needs require. The position may also perform other duties as assigned in support of the station’s general farm operations.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Recruitment Range: $31,200 - $49,000
- General knowledge of livestock production and animal husbandry practices.
- Ability to work with cattle, swine, and other livestock following strict biosecurity guidelines.
- Basic understanding of crop production and pasture management practices.
- Ability to perform long periods of repetitive reaching, stooping, standing, bending, and lifting of 50 lbs.
- Ability to perform all essential tasks in adverse weather conditions and in close proximity to livestock.
Must possess or qualify for certification/licensure within 12 months of employment for the following:
- Forklift Driver Certificate
