- Prepare and submit VAT returns and assist with other statutory requirements.
- Handle all payroll queries relating to wages, deductions and timesheets.
- Manage statutory pay and deductions, including SSP, SMP and SPP.
- Assist the payroll team with the preparation of weekly, bi-weekly and monthly payrolls.
Person Specification:
- Organised and approachable, with a genuine enjoyment of working with people.
- Takes pride in their work and is happy to take responsibility for managing their own workload.
- Calm and positive, able to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure, both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communicator with a friendly, professional and respectful manner when dealing with directors, managers, colleagues, clients, prospective clients and external organisations such as HMRC, Companies House and suppliers.
- Good organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and ensure deadlines are met.
- A high level of professionalism and integrity, with a genuine commitment to providing a helpful and positive experience.
- Team-focused, with a willingness to share ideas, support colleagues and contribute positively to the working environment.
- Keen to get involved, with a positive and personable approach to the role.
Experience:
- Proven competence across client bookkeeping, reconciliations, VAT returns, credit control and payroll, including statutory pay (SSP, SMP and SPP), is essential.
- Good IT skills and confidence using Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn and adapt to new systems.
- Previous experience within a recruitment agency, outsourcing provider, umbrella company or back-office environment would be advantageous.
- Familiarity with Xero and cloud-based timesheet systems would be advantageous.
