Job Description

The Software Engineer Senior Consultant II implements applications following 12-factor principles to build out the product and iterative enhancements. They own the full stack of software products, developing and implementing frontends (web or mobile), and backend services. They leverage test driven development and continuous integration to ensure agility and quality of products. They actively participate in the decision-making process of the team ensuring that the simplest appropriate technology and design is chosen to meet user needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Provides input into the architecture and design of the product; collaborating with the team in solving problems the right way
• Practices daily paired programming and test-driven development in writing software and building product
• Participates in executing the strategy, keeping the customer needs and wants in mind
• Serves as an expert on a specific business domain and demonstrates leadership and accountability on at least one technology stack
• Coaches more junior team members around different technologies and XP practices
• Establishes continuous integration, continuous delivery, and continuous deployment pipelines and practices
• Provides support for software products in user environments
• Leads and participates in daily site, cross-site, and product team standups
• Participates in retrospectives to gather feedback and derive actionable items to improve the team and the product
• Participates in iteration planning meetings ensuring that the team has a common understanding of each story and chores in a team’s backlog

Essential Skills:

• 8+ years of experience in software development, system integration, and delivery, including automation of the software development lifecycle (build, test, release) through CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• 6+ years of experience developing scalable RESTful APIs and implementing event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka, with a strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and asynchronous messaging patterns.
• Proven hands-on experience in architecting, designing, developing, and delivering large-scale distributed cloud-native applications, including microservices-based architectures and adherence to 12-Factor App principles.
• Strong software development experience with multiple programming languages and demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly, preferably Java (Spring Boot) and Python.
• Extensive experience in designing and developing REST APIs, including API documentation and specifications using Swagger/OpenAPI, API versioning, testing, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
• Experience developing event-driven and messaging-based solutions using Apache Kafka and related ecosystem components.
• Practical experience working in Agile and eXtreme Programming (XP) environments, including pair programming, collaborative engineering practices, continuous integration, and iterative delivery.
• Strong experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and automated testing practices, utilizing frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, Cucumber, and similar testing technologies.
• Proficiency in modern software engineering practices, including code quality, automated testing, security, observability, and cloud-native development.

Desirable Skills:

 

• Experience in Agentic AI application development, including the design and implementation of AI-driven autonomous workflows and intelligent agents.
• Proficiency in Python software development, with experience building scalable and maintainable enterprise applications.
• Good understanding of Microsoft Fabric, including data integration, analytics, and modern data platform capabilities.

Education

• 4 year Bachelors Degree (Preferred)

Experience

• 8+ years of experience in software development (Preferred)
