Summary:

Provides surveillance for infection control purposes. Identifies, investigates, and records data concerning nosocomial infections and infectious diseases. Initiates infection control measures as directed by infection control committee. Develops infection control policies and prevention programs.

Responsibilities:

Investigates and monitors known or potential sources of suspected infections in order to determine source and ensure control.Uses standard methods and criteria for identifying infections.Maintains, records, tracks, and trends data concerning infections and infectious diseases.Provides staff training and education.

Additional Job Information:

Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, effective communications skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Required Work Experience: One (1) year of relevant healthcare experience required. Other Information: Additional Education Info: Registered/Professional Nursing, Epidemiology, or Microbiology program, or a Master's Degree in Public Health (MPH).Additional License/Certification Info: Florida State licensure required for Registered Nurse or Clinical Lab Technician or Technologist. Licensure not required for Master of Public Health. An equivalent combination of relevant education, training, and professional experience may be considered in lieu of the stated educational requirements.
