Job Description:

Executive Vice President, Earned Media Strategy, Brand

About the Opportunity

Weber Shandwick is seeking an Executive Vice President, Earned Media Strategy, Brand to set the vision for earned media and integrated communications across major CPG, food and beverage, and consumer lifestyle clients.

This leader will help clients solve complex business and brand challenges through audience-first ideas designed to create impact across earned media, social, creators and influencers, owned content, partnerships, emerging platforms, and paid amplification. They will bring a sophisticated understanding of how media, culture, and consumer behavior intersect—and how to choreograph channels, narratives, and moments to build brands, strengthen reputation, and drive measurable business outcomes.

The ideal candidate is an influential senior counselor, creative strategist, and business leader with deep consumer media expertise and an established network of senior media, industry, and client relationships. They have a proven record of building integrated programs that move beyond traditional media relations; shaping distinctive points of view and breakthrough work; growing client partnerships; and leading high-performing, inclusive teams.

As a member of the senior leadership team, the EVP will advance Weber Shandwick’s earned media offering, help shape its integrated communications capabilities, drive account growth and new business, and develop the next generation of talent.

Responsibilities

Client and Work

  • Set the strategic vision for earned media and integrated communications across major client portfolios, connecting brand and reputation priorities to business objectives.
  • Serve as a trusted counselor and business partner to senior client leaders, advising on complex communications challenges, executive visibility, reputation, and high-stakes media engagement.
  • Lead the development of audience-led, culturally relevant ideas that create impact across earned, social, creator, owned, paid, partnership, and emerging channels.
  • Partner with Strategy, Creative, Analytics, Client Experience, and integrated media teams to deliver distinctive solutions that address marketing and broader business needs.
  • Shape the choreography of ideas across channels, ensuring each touchpoint works together to maximize relevance, reach, and impact.
  • Build and leverage senior relationships across media, culture, entertainment, commerce, and industry to advance client priorities and unlock new opportunities.
  • Provide executive oversight for major programs, ensuring strategic rigor, exceptional storytelling, strong delivery, and data-informed optimization.
  • Develop and champion thought leadership on the evolving media landscape, consumer behavior, and the future of brand-building.

Growth and Business Leadership

  • Support account growth, retention, and new business opportunities across earned media and integrated communications specialty.
  • Identify and champion opportunities to expand client engagements across disciplines, geographies, specialty capabilities, and agency partners.
  • Develop senior-level strategic recommendations and lead high-impact presentations, pitches, and client discussions.
  • Build the agency’s market profile through thought leadership, industry visibility, and award-worthy work.
  • Own the financial health of assigned business, including profitability, resource planning, scope management, and productive client negotiations.

Leadership and Talent Development

  • Build, lead, and retain diverse, high-performing teams; set a clear vision, model agency values, and create an inclusive culture of accountability and collaboration.
  • Develop senior talent and future leaders through active coaching, sponsorship, succession planning, and career development.
  • Help evolve the agency’s earned media and integrated communications capabilities, sharing learning and best practices across teams and regions.
  • Cast integrated teams that bring the right expertise to each client challenge and enable the delivery of ambitious, connected work.

Competencies

  • Enterprise strategic leadership: Defines a clear vision for earned and integrated communications that advances client, agency, and business priorities.
  • Executive counsel and influence: Builds credibility with senior stakeholders and provides trusted, decisive counsel in complex and high-pressure situations.
  • Integrated media and cultural expertise: Understands how earned, social, creators, owned, paid, partnerships, and emerging platforms work together to influence audiences and build brands.
  • Audience-first storytelling: Translates consumer, cultural, and media insights into compelling ideas and narratives with clear audience impact.
  • Growth and commercial acumen: Identifies opportunities to deepen client relationships, grow revenue, manage profitability, and build sustainable business.
  • Thought leadership and innovation: Anticipates shifts in media, culture, technology, and consumer behavior; turns them into actionable opportunities for clients and the agency.
  • Organizational leadership: Aligns diverse teams around a shared vision, develops talent and future leaders, and drives inclusive, high-performing ways of working.
  • Judgment and accountability: Makes sound, timely decisions; manages risk; and maintains ownership for the quality, outcomes, and financial performance of the work.
