History Teacher
Location: Woking, Surrey
Salary: £35,602 to £54,327 per annum (Main and Upper Pay Range, Fringe)
Contract: Full time, permanent
Start date: January 2027
About the role
We’re working with a welcoming, oversubscribed 11 to 18 secondary school near Woking to find a History Teacher to join their Humanities faculty. You’ll teach History across KS3 and KS4, with the opportunity to teach A Level History in an established sixth form.
This is a school that genuinely knows its students. Relationships are strong, expectations are high, and staff work together to help every young person achieve. History is a well-regarded subject here, with students who are keen to debate, question and write.
What you’ll be doing
- Planning and teaching engaging History lessons from Year 7 through to GCSE History, with A Level History for the right candidate
- Bringing the past to life through enquiry, source work and extended writing
- Tracking pupil progress and using assessment to help every student improve
- Contributing to a collaborative department that shares resources and ideas
- Upholding high standards of behaviour management and safeguarding
About you
We’d love to hear from History teachers at any stage of their career, whether you’re an ECT looking for a supportive first post or an established secondary History teacher ready for a new chapter. What matters most is a real enthusiasm for History and for the young people you teach.
- QTS qualification (ECTs welcome)
- Strong subject knowledge across KS3 to KS5
- Confident classroom management and a warm, consistent approach
- Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
What the school offers
- A friendly, well-resourced Humanities faculty
- Structured ECT induction and ongoing CPD
- Good transport links and on-site parking
Why apply through Ethos Education
We’re a boutique agency, and our consultants specialise by subject, so you’ll be speaking to someone who understands secondary History teaching rather than a generalist. If you’re a History Teacher looking for a school near Woking where you’ll be valued, we’d love to talk.
All appointments are subject to an enhanced DBS check and full safeguarding checks in line with KCSIE.
