Lead Accountant, SEC Reporting & Technical AccountingKBR is seeking a Lead Accountant for its SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting Group. This position will play a key role in the preparation and coordination of the Company’s SEC filings (Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, etc.) and will support technical accounting matters and various business process improvement initiatives to drive value within the organization
Job Description:
- Prepare and coordinate key aspects of the Company’s SEC reporting function, including the timely preparation of financial statements, footnote disclosures, MD&A, disclosure checklists, supporting workpapers and tie-outs. Also includes researching and assisting with drafting footnote disclosures.
- Collaborate and coordinate with the various groups and stakeholders to obtain the necessary information needed to draft the appropriate disclosures in the company’s SEC filings.
- Research technical accounting matters and assist in documenting the Company’s accounting conclusions through technical accounting memos. Provide operational accounting support to business units, as needed.
- Maintain and enhance the Company’s accounting policy manual, including updates resulting from new pronouncements and/or operational changes. Coordinate with the SOX team to ensure the manual remains aligned with the control environment, and communicate relevant changes across the organization.
- Support the earnings release process, including review and tie-out of press releases and earnings presentations.
- Support the consolidations process, including the review of balance sheet rollforwards used within the Company’s SEC filings.
- Assist with tie out of the annual proxy statement.
- Review XBRL tagging within Workiva for the Company’s financial statements and footnote disclosures.
- Participate in various business process improvement initiatives such as expediting/streamlining a current business process by utilizing automation tools (e.g. – Wdata within Workiva).
- Review FASB and SEC pronouncements to assess their applicability to the Company and assist with implementation of new requirements
- Other special projects as they arise.
Qualifications:
Required
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance. Experience in lieu of a formal degree will be considered.
- CPA or actively pursuing CPA certification
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Workiva/Wdesk and Wdata preferred.
Preferred
- 2+ years of Big Four experience on a public company client strongly preferred
- Strong attention to planning and organization with a demonstrated ability to consistently meet deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross-functional team members at all levels of management
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
