Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Weekend Security Officer, you will ensure the healthcare enterprise remains a safe environment by rapidly responding to security emergencies and meticulously documenting all incidents, even outside standard business hours.Every day you will observe and report activities at your assigned site, preserve order, enforce regulations and policies when requested by staff, and contribute to CommonSpirit Health's strategic plan and quality improvement activities, always maintaining a professional demeanor consistent with our core values.To be successful in this role, you will possess strong observational skills, a professional demeanor, the ability to respond effectively and rapidly to emergencies, and a steadfast commitment to upholding safety standards on weekends while supporting CommonSpirit Health's mission.

  • Protecting staff, patients, and visitors by responding to calls for assistance in a timely and prudent manner. Calls may include incidents such as violent or unruly patients, visitors, crimes committed or in progress, or to emergency codes, and requests for opening doors.
  • Patrol the facility and grounds by foot or vehicle; monitor security alarms and dispatch officers promptly to location(s) where needed; and report unsafe acts or conditions.
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures, equipment, and supplies, including of radios and hospital codes
  • Reports HIPAA breaches if witnessed; investigate security breaches, conducts investigations, and writes incident reports.
  • Ensures that l all activities are logged. That incident reports are accurately completed that they are clear, concise, legible, and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Use appropriate emergency and radio codes in dispatching security officers while knowing hospital campus to ensure that dispatches are to write location.

Job Requirements

Required

  • High School Graduate or equivalent and Six (6) months experience as security officer in a healthcare setting , upon hire or
  • Six (6) months experience as security officer in a healthcare setting or
  • One (1) year experience as a security officer.
  • Driver's License: NE, upon hire and
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, within 90 Days

Established by the Sisters of the St. Francis in 1924, CHI Health Good Samaritan is a 268-bed regional referral center in Kearney, Neb. At CHI Health Good Samaritan, you’ll find an advanced level trauma center that also offers AirCare emergency helicopter transport and an ambulance program providing long distance and local 911 service. Among our many other services are cardiac care including open-heart surgery, a level II neonatal intensive care unit, a nationally accredited cancer center, comprehensive neurosurgery, advanced orthopedic program, and inpatient and outpatient mental health services at our free-standing Richard Young Behavioral Health facility.
