Description
Our client is seeking a competent and motivated Scaffold Design Engineer to join their Engineering Department in the UAE. This role is ideal for a civil or structural engineering professional with experience in scaffold design, temporary works and structural analysis.
The successful candidate will be responsible for producing safe, practical and compliant scaffold designs for construction, industrial, infrastructure and specialist access projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare scaffold design schemes, engineering drawings and structural calculations.
- Design standard and bespoke scaffold arrangements, including:
- Access scaffolds
- Loading bays
- Stair towers
- Birdcage scaffolds
- Cantilever scaffolds
- Temporary roofs
- Review project requirements, site information, loading criteria and design constraints.
- Assess scaffold structures for strength, stability and serviceability.
- Determine suitable bay sizes, lift heights, bracing, ties, foundations, ballast and loading restrictions.
- Ensure designs are practical, buildable and compatible with the proposed scaffold system and available components.
- Clearly document design assumptions, limitations and information requiring site verification.
- Conduct site surveys and coordinate with clients, project managers, scaffold supervisors and site teams.
- Respond to technical queries and revise designs in line with changing site conditions or project requirements.
- Submit drawings and calculations for the required design check before issue.
- Maintain accurate design records and complete assigned work within agreed deadlines.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Relevant experience in scaffold design, temporary works or structural engineering.
- Good knowledge of scaffold systems, structural behaviour, bracing, ties, foundations and load paths.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D is essential.
- Experience with structural analysis software such as Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis, STAAD.Pro or equivalent.
- Ability to prepare and interpret engineering drawings, calculations and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with UAE regulations, local authority requirements and applicable scaffold and temporary works standards.
- Good written and spoken English.
- Strong attention to detail, organisation and time management.
- Ability to work effectively with engineering, project and site teams.
