What You’ll Do
As the Assistant Contractor Special Security Officer (ACSSO) you will provide contractor security support to the Government Special Security Officer (GSSO), assisting with personnel, physical, information, and program security activities supporting classified operations for a mission-critical Navy training program at NAS Patuxent River, MD.
Key Responsibilities
With support and guidance from the GSSO, the ACSSO will:
- Assist in developing, updating, and maintaining facility standard operating procedures (SOPs), Operations Security (OPSEC) plans, Fixed Facility Checklists, appointment letters, and other required security documentation.
- Support security self-inspections and Government inspections, document findings, and track corrective actions through completion.
- Maintain accurate security records and prepare routine status reports and weekly customer updates.
- Assist with preparing, submitting, and tracking Program Access Requests (PARs) and supporting authorized program indoctrinations and debriefings.
- Support Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access requests, visit coordination, indoctrinations, debriefings, and security training, as authorized.
- Maintain personnel access rosters, visitor records, and access-control documentation.
- Assist with personnel security processing, clearance verification, and record maintenance using the Defense Information System for Security (DISS) and other authorized systems.
- Prepare and track visit requests and visit certification letters.
- Coordinate with the GSSO, security personnel, and other Government security representatives regarding personnel clearances and program access.
- Support classified document and media accountability, including receipt, inventory, storage, dispatch, reproduction, and authorized destruction.
- Review classified documents and media for required markings, cover sheets, packaging, and handling requirements before authorized transmission or distribution.
- Prepare classified material receipts and packages in accordance with applicable security procedures.
- Enter and maintain accurate accountability records in JADE, SIMS, and other applicable security management systems.
- Assist with security briefings, refresher training, and employee guidance on safeguarding classified information.
- Promptly report security concerns, discrepancies, and suspected incidents to the GSSO and appropriate security personnel, and assist with documentation and follow-up actions.

Requirements
What You’ll Bring:
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year of experience supporting facility, industrial, personnel, or program security activities.
- At least one year of experience applying relevant security requirements, including the NISPOM Rule (32 CFR Part 117), DoDM 5205.07, and applicable SCI guidance such as DoDM 5105.21 and Intelligence Community Directives.
- Working knowledge of DD Form 254 security requirements and their application to assigned contract activities.
- Working knowledge of personnel, industrial, physical, and information security principles and OPSEC practices.
- Ability to support implementation and maintenance of a security program with guidance from the GSSO.
- Familiarity with classified material handling, accountability, storage, marking, and transmission procedures.
- Experience using DISS to support personnel security activities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain accurate records and protect sensitive information.
- Ability to communicate professionally with employees, company leadership, and Government security representatives.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting Special Access Program (SAP) or SCI environments.
- Experience preparing and tracking PARs and coordinating program access.
- Familiarity with JADE, SIMS, Scattered Castles, and NBIS/eApp, as applicable to assigned duties.
- Familiarity with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Joint SAP Implementation Guide (JSIG).
- Completion of relevant Center for Development of Security Excellence (CDSE) training related to SAP security, personnel security, physical security, and classified information protection.

Security Clearance Requirement:
- This position requires U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Top Secret clearance. Selected candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Salary Range:
- The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $105,000 -$115,000, commensurate with an individual’s experience, qualifications, and skill set. ASEC is committed to providing fair and equitable compensation.
