Job Summary: The Health and Safety Coordinator/Kitchen Supervisor, under the supervision of the Vice President of Early Childhood Education, is responsible for the oversight of all aspects of the Child Health and Safety Specialist Service Areas of the Early Head Start Program as well as responsible for day-to-day operations of the Early Head Start kitchens in both counties as well as supervision of all related staff. The Health and Safety Coordinator position will assist the Vice President of Early Childhood Education, as well as the Family Services and Child Development/Disabilities Coordinators with developing new and continuing collaborative community partnerships. The supervisor position is also responsible for working with very young children, their families, volunteers, and community partners to provide developmentally appropriate activities in a center-based program. This position serves as a member of the EHS management team and is responsible to see that program functioning is maintained according to standards and requirements as established.
Ideal Experience, Background, and Skills:
· A Bachelor's degree in health services or other related degree is required & associate degree or equivalate with experience in child development, child mental health & development, children with disabilities, adult education, and community service a plus

Requirements
· Education and Experience: Must be 18 years or older; must possess a Bachelor's degree in health services or other related degree; must possess a valid driver’s license, adequate automobile insurance, and meet agency insurability requirements; must be willing to pursue additional education, as required by State and Federal standards and regulations
· Knowledge: Must have a thorough understanding of childcare program management, food services management, and possess effective communication with and safety practices for infants and toddlers; must be able to learn (instruction provided) basic principles of teaching; must have good basic mathematical computation and English Language writing knowledge; must be able to gain new skills in teaching adults and children developmentally appropriate skills, and gain broader knowledge of related issues by attending seminars, workshops, and personal study.
· Physical Requirements: Must be able to bend, stoop, stand, or sit for periods of time and to lift children. Must possess the sensory capabilities to perform essential job functions. Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment such as, but not limited to: gloves, masks, gowns, face shields, shoes, ear plugs, etc.
· Safety and Compliance: Must be able to follow all required safe and universal precaution practices during a pandemic and as required otherwise; as required by specific job requirements must know first aid, health & safety measures or build an acceptable competence level by post-hire training.
