What You'll Do
As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), you'll work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to help patients maximize independence and improve functional performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement individualized treatment plans established by the Occupational Therapist
- Deliver therapeutic interventions focused on activities of daily living (ADLs), mobility, coordination, strengthening, and self-care skills
- Assist patients in achieving functional goals and improving quality of life
- Monitor patient progress and communicate treatment responses to the supervising Occupational Therapist
- Complete timely and accurate therapy documentation in accordance with regulatory guidelines
- Educate patients and families on adaptive techniques, equipment use, and safety strategies
- Collaborate with therapists, nursing staff, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members
- Participate in care conferences and discharge planning
- Maintain a safe, positive, and patient-centered therapy environment
Qualifications
Required
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- Current California Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license in good standing
- Current CPR certification or ability to obtain upon hire
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong clinical and organizational abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
Preferred
- Skilled nursing facility (SNF), post-acute, rehabilitation, or long-term care experience
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) and therapy documentation systems
- Knowledge of Medicare, managed care, and rehabilitation practices
- New graduates are encouraged to apply
