Responsibilities and Impact:

-Lead and motivate a dispersed editorial team across APAC and EMEA to produce groundbreaking commodity news tied to key Platts benchmarks like Dated Brent, Dubai, and Murban.
-Oversee the handling of sensitive content from the team, providing crucial guidance and approval for stories involving named companies, regulatory issues, or geopolitical risk.
-Coordinate closely with pricing, analytics, and research teams to ensure news coverage aligns with Market on Close developments and benchmark price dynamics.
-Develop and maintain senior sources across National Oil Companies, oil majors, trading houses, and regulators globally.
-Drive the deployment of AI tools and workflows across the team.
-Drive talent development and succession planning across the regional bench to maintain team stability in a highly competitive market.
-Lead crisis coverage during major events like OPEC+ decisions or shipping disruptions, and represent Platts editorially at major conferences.

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Required Qualifications:

-Extensive experience as a news writer, journalist, and editor with an in-depth, up-to-date knowledge of media law.
-Deep understanding of global oil market fundamentals, demand and supply, trade flows, and price dynamics including cracks and spreads.
-Proven track record in managing and motivating global reporting teams in a fast-paced news environment.
-Clear capability to oversee and approve sensitive, legally exposed, and anonymously sourced content.
-Strong crisis leadership skills to guide coverage during rapid market changes or geopolitical events.
-Excellent communication skills to partner effectively across different time zones and divisions.
-A calm, decisive editorial judgment when handling complex stories under tight deadlines.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:
