Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring critical and hospitalized patients and identifying changes in patient status
- Administering medications and treatments as prescribed
- Medication administration via IV, IM, SQ, and other appropriate routes
- Venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and sample collection
- Assisting with advanced critical care procedures
- Monitoring anesthesia and recovering patients
- Performing diagnostic testing, including chemistries, CBCs, urinalysis, and fecal testing
- Collecting and appropriately handling blood, urine, and other diagnostic samples
- Maintaining detailed and accurate documentation of treatments, patient status, and changes in overall health
- Working closely with the medical team to prioritize patient needs and respond to changes quickly
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked ICU
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- 3+ years of clinical experience in a veterinary hospital
- Advanced technical skills, including phlebotomy, anesthesia monitoring, and critical patient care
- Strong critical thinking and clinical judgment
- High attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple patients and responsibilities
- Basic computer skills and accurate medical record documentation
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine desire to learn and continue developing your technical abilities
- Ability to remain focused and compassionate in a fast-paced critical care environment
