- Review project scopes, RFPs, plans, specifications, records, and client requirements to establish survey limits, technical approaches, staffing, schedules, and budgets.
- Develop survey methodologies based on project requirements, site conditions, accuracy standards, schedule, and available technology.
- Plan and coordinate horizontal and vertical control, GNSS/GPS observations, total station surveys, leveling, topographic, construction, boundary, right-of-way, and supplemental design surveys.
- Coordinate boundary and property research, including deeds, plats, easements, field evidence, and right-of-way determinations.
- Prepare and review survey deliverables including plats, legal descriptions, exhibits, reports, control documentation, basemapping, surface models, and design-ready datasets.
- Integrate conventional survey data with technologies such as UAS, terrestrial lidar, aerial imagery and photogrammetry, mobile mapping, GNSS, GIS, and other geospatial datasets.
- Oversee survey data processing, adjustments, feature coding, terrain development, planimetric mapping, and CADD production.
- Coordinate survey and subsurface utility information, including utility records, field evidence, test holes, and Quality Level A and B data when included in project scope.
- Apply applicable federal, state, local, client, CADD/GIS, and professional surveying standards.
- Develop and implement project-specific QA/QC procedures and review field observations, calculations, control networks, mapping, boundary and right-of-way determinations, surfaces, and final deliverables.
- Monitor project scope, schedule, staffing, and budget; identify risks or variances and coordinate corrective actions with project managers.
- Coordinate field activities, staffing, equipment, property access, traffic control, permitting, restricted-access requirements, and project-specific safety expectations.
- Provide technical direction and mentorship to survey crews, technicians, CADD personnel, and geospatial staff.
- Collaborate across engineering, transportation, aviation, utilities, GIS, photogrammetry, remote sensing, and other disciplines to support multidisciplinary projects.
- Communicate with clients, contractors, subconsultants, property owners, utility representatives, government agencies, and internal teams to resolve project needs and recommend practical solutions.
